I'm buying a 2008 Touareg over a RRS, Q7 and ML

Featured Replies

Having looked at these cars, It seems the Touareg and RRS are very close for what i want..

I am leaning towards the 3.0 TDi Touareg as they seem excellent value for money, newer, more powerful and best of all reliable...and they look great IMHO

Or am i being stupid here?????

My budget is £15-£20k

Cheers

I thought you already had a RRS, didin't you mention it in that thread about people taking the P out of your Skoda?

With regards to are you being stupid... doesn't that really depend what you want a 4x4 for?

If it's for the school run and shopping trips then I'd probably say yes.

But if you need a 4x4 or a great tow barge then the answer is no.

IMO of course.

I'd buy a Discovery instead.

More functional, less pretentious.

The RRS we are looking at is the TDV8 instead of the 2.7TDi we currently have.

Discovery was on the list, but i just can't get with the shape!

I'd probably 2nd the Discovery, you'd get a nice one for the money you have. What about a Tiguan if you don't need anything too big?

Would have to be the Touareg with the 2.5 van engine. Honest at least. That or a v6 cayenne

Ah, I see the 2.7 is a bit naff, doesn't suit the Sport tag.

TDV8 RRS is a lot better.

What about a Full Fat Range Rover?

I had a 2008 TDV8 Vogue SE and it was very nice, as they depreciate more the price is not that far from a RRS and you are not driving the poorer relation that's based on a Disco. Size is almost the same too. That'd be my choice if it's an image led purchase, which I thought was mostly the case with the RRS.

You get a bit more roll in corners though as the TDV8 RRS has some kind of active suspension, although theFFRR is a nicer place to be.

Worth a thought?

I thought the RRS was based on the disco? You have the same budget as gerr666 & the two types of cars couldn't be further from each other! Lol, all the choices sound nice, is the X5 ruled out?

I had a loan of a 5.0L Tdi V10 Touareg for an afternoon, Very nice.

Triptonic of course, in Black

I've decided to sell the other car and keep the Fabia VRS. Its cheap as chips to run and i can't see the point in spending the £££ on a new car when i have a perfectly capable car at my disposal...

no matter what the other half states!
