Whiteline RARB - Settings

Featured Replies

I have just recieved my Whiteline RARB for the furby and anticipating fitting it at the weekend, weather permitting! Looking at the fitting guide Whiteline have on their site there are three settings for the RARB/swaybar, Soft, Medium and Hard. There does not appear to be any real guidance on the differences. My gut feeling is to stick with medium and see how it goes. Anyone else fitted one or have experience of the settings?

I fitted that bar some time ago. I'd recommend setting it in Medium to start with, as the difference in handling and oversteer tendency will be immediately noticeable. Then, as you're getting used to it and the initial excitement wears out, you could try Hard setting for even tighter behaviour. I've not yet switched to hard yet. I think the only thing keeping me is that I suspect that then it will require even more attention to even less demanding bends and I am not sure I want that yet.

Would you over all recommend one then? Does it make the car more fun to drive etc?

I've set mine to the Hard setting from the start. It is quite an improvement and you can push the car at corners a lot more. Mine is set on a non VRS Fabia (just to be clear).

Yes I'd certainly recommend it to a stock car as it makes a very notable difference and it turns the car's behavior towards what you would have expected from a sports car in the first place imho. I still remember how positively I was surprised after my first ride with the ARB on. On the other hand I don't know If the difference it makes on the stock car is the same as on an already lowered one, maybe there the effect is not as pronounced. But If we're talking talking stock then I'd say it's great improvement for the money.

I had a mk1 lowered and had a Jabba ARB fitted later. The difference was noticeable, but the Jabba bar looks way thicker than the Whiteline so I'm not sure if it would make a difference.

Got mine set on medium and there is a noticable difference with it on

I looked at the Jabba one which as you say is thicker. But as they could not garuantee it fitting, someone has returned one to them claiming it was hitting the exhaust, and they would charge a restocking fee, I decided to go for the Whiteline one.

Mine is on hard, it was difficult to fit on medium or soft, the beam it connects to is tricky to work around.

Improvement........oh yes even with 40mm lowering springs.

People wouldnt believe me. ARBs are the best chassis mod imo

I've set my on medium, cornering gocart-ish.. somewhat, yeah..

Sy,

As I mentioned, I completely agree, but the WARB looks a little thin to me. Obviously that's just my opinion compared to the Jabba ARB I had on the Mk1 which rolled like a ship. :whew:

This is exactly why I haven't bought the whiteline bar.I want somethingmore substantial

Not used a RARB before so not sure how much better the Jabba bar would be. But as they don't really do one for the Mk2 vRS and won't guarantee the approx one fitting it really isn't an option.

I emailed them a few months back and there was no word of one coming and they said they would charge a restocking fee if I had to return it for any reason. Probably could avoid that under the saels of goods act but can't be bothered with the hastle. DPM onthe other hand were helpful and efficient suppliers of the Whiteline one.

Mine works a treat :)

Considering the success with the Jabba ARB on the Mk1, I'm a little surprised that they've not sorted one for the Mk2 ?

Why not contact them bud, might make you a free one if you offer your car to help with production

ARB now fitted, decided to set it to medium. Will see how it goes and may adjust to hard later on.

Very easy to fit once the car was up on ramps. Not sure why some have said it was awkward to set to anything but one setting. Leaving bolts loose till the end meant I could easily manipulate it to any of the three settings.

Just need to go for a test drive now!

Now been out for a run on some of the back roads I regularly use and the difference is amazing. Car feels much more stable through corners and am more confident to carry extra speed through them. What an astounding difference for a small price and a quick bit of DIY. Will probably change it to hard in a while to see what that feels like but more than happy with the results so far.

With the better handling and being able to maintain a higher average speed I did notice the reduced acceleration from higher speeds so a remap or tuning box feels more worthwhile now, best start saving up and see what my insurers will charge for that!
