Rear Beam Bushes

Featured Replies

Hi all i have to change my rear bushs can i use the nuts+bolts that are on it or get new ones

Cheers

Stu

best practice is get new, but i have seen reused, the last ones i changed the owner didnt buy new bolts so we cleaned up the old and reused them.

for the price they are, get new, just incase it is any hassle re-using (you may strip a thread/break a bolt when removing)

Which bushes are you fitting? standard ones or uprated?

Ok will get new cheers guys ;-)

if you are fitting yourself you will need to make/get a press to press the new bushes back into the beam.

Just standard one got to change the rear coil springs too then see about

A new exhaust

have only ever fitted polybushes, but i would imagine you need a press none the less for stock bushes.

Yep VAG do a proper tool for it or you can make your own tool up with a long bolt and nuts and metal plates.

Best rear beam bushes to fit are the Fabia ones or Leon Cupra R ones as they're a much better design than the Octavia ones.

or superpro:>

super write up, thats exactly whats needed! the superpro bushes are 2 piece, the powerflex are one piece and def need a press tool

Silly question do i get the new nuts+bolts from the dealer

Cheers

yes you do, they are vag specific, tho am sure if you could get the same in high tensile/locknut type affair it would be no issue

I replaced mine when I changed my rear beam bushes, but upon looking at at them, they were nothing special.
