BUSHES!

Featured Replies

Well basically I think my bushes have gone so I am going to jack my car up on sunday and have a good look. What should i be looking out for and what sort of movements?

If they have gone then what bushes would people recommend and how much did people spend? I am not looking to spend a fortune but enough to sort out the sort of rattling knocking noise.

I am going to use this thread to help me fit them..

I have seen the polybushes on ebay for around £35-£45 for a pair, any views on these?

Sorry if this has been covered before, thanks

I ended up avoiding poly bushes due to lots of complaints about random squeaking after install and some peoples comments on them degrading rather alarmingly, and concerns about road noise transferring to the cab.

In the end I went with solid VRS/LCR bushes for the rear axle, and Meyle HD front wishbone rear bushes, with Meyle HD drop links. Plenty of beemer owners seem to swear by them, so thought i'd give them a shot. Didn't need to replace the front wishbone front bushes, they were fine.

Worked a treat for me, obviously your mileage may vary.

I went for Powerflex because they are a two part bush, require no special tools to fit and change what most describe as a PITA job into a quick and easy one. They also have a lifetime guarantee which considering he number of people who've had to replace OE bushes more than once goes a long way with me, they don't squeek, they don't vibrate, in fact they are no different for me than oe appart from they work :) Cost wise £47ish from memory from Demon Tweaks via ebay and they arrived next day. To give you some idea of what you're looking for here's a photo of my console bush on the drivers side...

The front bush will probably be fine, the rear will normally be knackered, that image shows the tears top and bottom quite clearly but that's on full lock. While you're at it you could have a look at the drop links as they tend to come up regularly as causing issues, they're very to replace at the same time.

May be worth having a read of my comments here: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/92625-fabia-wishbone-bush-replacement-diy-guide/page__st__180 I'm not saying my way is the only/best way but it was easy and it worked well :)

Hi thanks for the excellent reply, I think I will go for powerflew bushes because you can't argue with the price fitting and a lifetime guarantee haha. Just a quick one, so there are three bushes on each side at the front isn't there? The anti roll bar bush and then two wishbone bushes, on eBay it just says front and back but I'm guessing the on at the back is the console bush?

Jay

I paid £65 from awesome for the front and rear arm bushes and the arb bushes :) all power flex apart from the rear arm bushes which i had cupra ones :)

As above, no complaints at all.

Was that fitted?

Hehe, no mate.

The console bush is what normal people would probably refer to as the front wishbone's rear bush. Powerfelx offer a rear (console) bush, a front wishbone bush and the arb bush, they also offer one set rear bushes from memory but I could be mistaken.

Console bush is circa £47, front bush is circa £33 and the ARB bush is about £27 from memory. The front bush is unlikely to have failed, i've not read anyone mention they had one go, the rear's are the ones that almost always seem to go followed by the ARB bushes which crop up occasionally. Personally I found swapp
