TMC box on its way :)

Featured Replies

Little bit excited!

Picking up a TMC box on Sunday, judging from people's reviews I shouldn't be disappointed!

Will let you know my thoughts :)

Insurance was £122 extra which for my age (21) isn't too bad, and should cover me for a remap if I ever went for one.

You wont be.

Under hard acceleration you'll feel the gear changes now as they become a lot more pronounced than before. Whack it on 7 as it seems to be the best setting. 8 and 9 didnt do anything for me and if anything made my 1/4 times slower.

It seems there's plenty using these now with good results and with all the doubts that I've got from people debating what tuner is best and why then this may be the best option.

+1

Fit it then turn to Setting 7 and enjoy. I love the car soo much more now. It is soo muxh quicker. Find a nice road cruise at 60 in 7th then put ya foot down (no kick down) and you notice the pull. I cant keep the smile of my face when pressing the go pedal

All I can say is wow.

It's unbelievably quicker.

Pulls a lot harder through the gears, took a while to bed in though, then the power came alive!

makes the car feel alive eh! just what it should of been.

Anyone knows or checked how much HP the car produces at setting 7?

im sure vrs-powered had his dynod at around 211 bhp although that was using an ITG intake aswell, im sure apmaman was far behind that when he had his dynod aswell so roughly 205-215 would be the sort of power you would get

with the standard air intake i was getting 202bhp. pipercross viper intake i got 206bhp.

What do ppl think if they had to choose between TMC Box or APR? Not fond of having someone to open the ECU on a brand new car..

Neither Revo is what you need :)

Revo if i wasnt worried about warrenty and had the extra money. But more people have tmc and i havent heard anything bad about them and i have one myself :)

Apr is expencive i think for what it but lyk the idea of being able to select different maps from the cruise control stalk.

If you want the best bang for ya buck then tmc all the way, revo might be able to change map to suit car but tmc box your looking at 200bhp and you can remove from car when it goes to the dealers.

The tmc box is about half the price of revo/giac/apr/you-name-it here is Sweden.. So yeah, I'm tempted! :)

What i like about apr is the possibility to have valet-mode for when leaving the car to the dealers - as I don't trust them a bit.

Well tmc you remove the box so prob about 15min job before to take to dealers nice and easy

Or sps box for revo to have the ability to enable a "standard style" map which mimics the stock ecu parameters. That's how I plan to do it, just waiting on the possibility of a revo sale around the gti international.

TMC when on setting 0 is off, so completely stock ;)

Does setting 0 make the box in the engine bay disappear as well? :giggle:

when your use to the difference in power it makes.... it might as well!!!
