Discounts on the Citigo.

Featured Replies

Thought I might just put a thread here for anyone who has seen a deal or offer on the car.

Could very well be that in the early weeks and months discounts may be thin on the ground so instead buyers might be inclined to ask for sweeteners that won't cost the dealer too much themselves but save a prospective customer a few bob and act as an incentive in these current difficult times when sales, generally across the models might be a bit slow...(as they are according to my supplying dealer). Drive the Deal aren't currently showing any Skoda discounts (or, indeed, any prices at all). They are currently showing discounts from £50 on a base spec Vw Up! up to £135 on a top of the range VW Up! with every option ticked. I did read somewhere (was it here?) that there was £700 off an Up! for a short time at the same online broker, subsequently reduced due to good demand. I can't see it as unreasonable to ask to have the car serviced free for one, two or three years for example - saves the buyer a reasonable amount and costs the dealer a couple of hours (at the most) and some of his bulk oil and a couple of filters and bits and bobs.....and during the first three years he'll quite possibly have a little bit of chargeable (to Skoda) warranty work to claw some money back.

It is possible that some might post that you should pay full retail or whatever your local dealer is charging and shouldn't spend time penny-pinching and trying to save a few bob and instead build up favour and goodwill with your dealer.

That's fair enough and, indeed, with the Citigo it's possible that margins are tighter than on, say, the Yeti and the discounts may be so minor that it really isn't worth seeking a bargain. But I do know from personal experience that my own local dealer offered a pittance off my Yeti - and another dealer sold me the same car for just less than two thousand pounds off and my local dealer service department is perfectly happy to service it and give me a free loan car. I'd prefer to have that £2k of my own hard earned in my own pocket.

I would imagine it's too soon to see any hints from Lee at Preston Motors at Forest Gate regarding what may or may not be expected in the future, and that's entirely reasonable IMO.

A good write up oldstan.

I would agree that any incentives would take priority over discounts, margins will be a lot smaller than for instance the Yeti as yo mentioned.

If it was me purchasing a new car and no discount was offered, I would look at a 'sweetener' - mats, kickplates or even a plate change (as per an order over the weekend). The minor things can make a big difference.

And as always, if you don't ask you don't get.

Lets be honest, these days, if you can't get mats, mudflaps and a full tank of fuel out of your dealer, you shouldn't be buying cars!

Again, these sort of things should be standard, but hey ho :)

Meh, Citigo is out for me and my gf anyway. According to a bloke I know who works at the local dealership, the Citigo will be around 120 000 SEK, (~10000£). You can get a min spec. Fabia for 122 000 SEK. The Up! is between 119 000 and 125 000SEK at the same dealership.

Nah, were looking at Fabia / Praktik atm.
