good independent garage Glasgow (South side if possible)

Featured Replies

Pretty much as the tagline says.

If you have someone you'd recommend for servicing an 11 plate VRS we'd appreciate it :)

thanks

Chris.

The only skoda garage I know of in Glasgow is Henry's in Kyle street. There is a vw, Audi, skoda independent garage next to the raith interchange near Hamilton. Don't know much about them though. Only had my vrs 2 weeks. If you do find somewhere id appreciate if you'd let me know about it as I'm in east Kilbride.

thanks for the info so far. Clydebank is a bit of a haul from where we are but so I'll hang on and see if any other advice pops up.

cheers

C.

The VW/Audi place in Bothwell just off the Raith are expensive for an independant IMO.

I've been calling about this morning as my 2010 Oct VRS is coming up for it's first service and heres the quotes I've received so far.....

Audi/VW Repair Centre Bothwell - £130+vat = £156

Parks Hamilton - £165

West End Uphall - £163.95

Newmarket Bannockburn - Around £182

Henry's Skoda are doing 2 services deals at a cost of £299 each.

Deal 1 is 2 service and £50 Skoda voucher.

Deal 2 is 2 services and 2 MOT's with MOT insurance.

I am currently on the former as my car was a year old when I took it out. I intend to take out the second deal to cover the MOT's.

Not sure if Parks are running the official Skoda deal, but I know they were doing their own thing for around the same money.

I've used the place in Bothwell a few times this year. Pretty good, if a little steep for an indy. I'd certainly use them again.

Think they're labour rate is £45+vat. The indy I used down south last year wasn't vat registered, so now feeling the pain. :-(

I did notice a dent in my sill not long after I used them, but to be fair I hadn't cleaned the car thorough enough since swapping the wheels last November and since then the car has been in three different places, so could have been any of them !

Get my parts as Parks in Hamilton. The service manager is a nice guy, but can't comment on their workmanship. Seem to be a popular choice for the Taxi guys.

All the advice is appreciated. The £299 deal actually seems quite good - is there some sort of catch that I'm missing?

Audi VW Repair centre is bloody expensive and love to rag your vehicles about, took my caddy there once i picked it up from KEttering for a full service (oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, brake fluid & coolant change) it was £230  thought it was expensive so called the vw commercial garage in Glasgow it would have been £180!!

Shop around the main dealers mate takes 10-20 mins of calls its worth it mate.

:)

Ref the £299 deals. If there is a catch, I am not aware of what it is.

See my other thread on Skoda's Fixed Priced Servicing and Maintenance, I know it is more appropriate for vehicles over 3 years old, but it does give prices for brake pads/discs/oil/aircon regassing and cambelt changing..

The Servicing guy at Parks Hamilton is spot on, never had any problems with him. However he was off when I enquired there about fixed price servicing, and one of the sales guys was REALLY PUSHING me to take out Parks more expensive servicing plan, which made me choose Henry's Skoda. I had a number of issues with Henry's; seven in total if i remember correctly, ranging from servicing and delaminated wheel swap taking 6 hours instead of the 2 hours quoted, quoting me £240 for car wax instead of £60, yes really!!and so on. I will see if they have improved when I take it back for its second service.
