Radio system traffic control hwo do i turn it off

Featured Replies

My radio traffic control just comes on and i can't work out how to turn this off and I have lost my manaual

Press the TP button until TP is not displayed on the radio

You can download the manuals for the Fabia's radios from following the links in the sticky at the top of the Fabia forums... :hi:

Just bought another VRS after 5 years away. 55 plate with 17,000 miles on the clock.

I have tried everything to get the TP off but it just comes back on after a few seconds. Manual is no help at all and pressing the TP button does nothing to take it off.

Need to update my signature.

My brother turned on my TP and I was constantly getting French Travel reports!! Couldn't turn the blasted thing off either, so I took the drastic step of replacing the stereo! Now have a pioneer double din dvd player :-)

Press and hold the TP button and it should go off, a simple press is not enough.

I have the same problem with the OEM unit in my vRS SE. If I press the TP button with the unit turned on, it goes to the GALA option; if I press the TP button and then turn the unit on is does nothing whatsoever. Perhaps the manufacturers altered the spec at some stage but I'm becoming fed up with hearing traffic reports from miles away while trying to listen to music! If anyone has other suggestions it would be great.

The instructions as far as I can recall worked the same on my 2004 and 2007 vRSs.

I have the same problem with the OEM unit in my vRS SE. If I press the TP button with the unit turned on, it goes to the GALA option;

The manual states:

By depressing the TP button for a few moments, you can enter the set-up menu. This is for special settings, as for example operating the car radio in connection with a telephone.

To switch TP on and off it should be just a brief press:

Switching to TP (radio traffic service active, display ):

• Press the TP button briefly to switch to the TP Range (Traffic Program). In this range only programs with radio traffic service (TP programs) can be set. Traffic announcements are broadcast always in a minimum volume which can be set in the set-up menu. The reports also interrupt the CD playback. After the traffic report, the appliance switches back to the previous operating state.

TP programs are indicated in the display by "TP”. The broadcasting of a traffic report is indicated in the display by "INFO PRGNAME”. If there is no longer any reception for the set TP program, the appliance switches automatically to the next TP Program with clear reception. "NO TP TP SEEK“ then appears in the display. If you do not wish to receive any traffic report,

listen to the program you wish in one of the FM ranges: FM 1 or FM 2.

As Bob says. A single press of the TP button turns traffic on but a single press does not turn it off. Longer press goes into the GALA setup. I can't find any way to turn it off, even after unpluging the head unit it still comes back on when you power up again.

Hence your unit is broken and you need a new one. What I'd like is a TP sensitivity setting - driving into work I get Shropshire traffic reports!

You hit the AF button to turn it off. Within the FM band you have two sets of... 2? presets... One with TP enabled, and one without. Another symtom of leaving it on the TP stations can be "TIM 2H" displayed across the display when you power down after a journey.

Somewhat off topic but I have singularly failed to get TIM to work properly. It sometimes gives out messages but even when set to TIM24 doesn't give out them all...

Very many thanks, Vindaloo, hitting the AF button seems to work.

Its memory is finite. When full it either overwrites or throws away... Messages longer than 4 minutes wrap... Also assumes reception is good enough to start/end the recording when needed. Whilst driving I've occasionally had the TP radio override the CD but them immediately crap out and resume the CD.

The problem I have is that it doesn't pick anything up even when set to TIM24 - would be useful getting in the car in the morning and hearing the latest traffic reports.

  • 1 month later...

did it completely remove the tp from the screen of the radio?

It will only remove the "big" TP won't it? - the "small" TP indicates the station being listened to broadcasts TP info.

Thanks for that info!

AF button has solved it for me then.
