induction

Featured Replies

have a bit of a newbie question to ask you guys. Basicaly looking round every one seems to just use the pd160 intake rather than any sort of induction kit on mk1 fariba vrs just wondering why this is as i love induction noise haha. Any help would be great.

You wont realy get induction noise like a petrol engine on a diesel. You will get mixed reviews on everything on induction performance though, some will say the pd160 is worth it others say its a massive waste of money then some say uprated panel filter and others will say stay standard filter. Best option is to do a search on the subjects and choose for yourself as it will be you driving the car at the end of the day. Either way the vrs is a great car and you will always be happy no matter what you do to it :)

Diesels dont need a wacking K&N on them to get enough air so people dont bother. Unless your running hybrid turbos then just stick with the stock setup.

I ran a cheap £20 universal filter for about an hour to decide if i liked the sound or not, before i shelled out £90 on a pipercross induction kit.

There is more or a burble on tickover, and quite a loud grumble when the turbo spools up. When boosting up, then comming off the throttle you hear a "tish" which is quite nice.

As for power, throttle response felt better, with a shorter spooler time, but many people say about heat soak from drawing in hot air from the engine bay, but if its being shoved through the intercooler ... well.

I will be purchasing a pipercross cone filter come pay day. Regal motorsport have a "universal" fitment pipercross filter for £57 at the moment. Pipercross do a filter for the VRS, which is the same as the "universal" one, but comes with a mounting bracket. This kit is £90! :o

I know which option ill be taking ;)

PiperX + heat shield = :)
