Hi,

I have a 55 plate Octavia elegance estate 1.9TD

Like loads of others I have turned on the AC, its not cooling well so im guessing it needs a check or recharge so I left it to auto 16degrees just to see if I could blow something out, well It did, as this morning I got in the car and smelled something like rotten milk, i looked all over and found that there was this gloopy off white liquid on the floor matt it had come from the vent. I considered KF and the likes but wanted to know if anyone has had this happen to them and if anyone had an idea of what to do. I can peer under the bonnet and check filters and things but not much more.

If it really is oil, then it could be PAG oil from the A/C. I think this is unlikely as it would mean there is a leak from the evaporator.

More likely, the evaporator drain is blocked and you have been growing mould in the a/c. If this is the case, then the drain needs unblocking and the system needs treating for mould (it's not good for you).

I think your spot on with that, I'll look for a local garage to get it checked, I won't take it near kwikbreak or budget for sure.
