thinking of buying a vrs fabia soon, heads up, advice needed and new tot he forum ;D

Featured Replies

First of all, a big hello from me to everyone on here, i currently own a 2000 polo gti 6n2 but i wanted to switch it up to something faster. After checking my insurance on a seat cupra and civic ep3 type r and then maintenance and running costs, i thought maybe im abit over budget on that level of thinking lol.

So after researching more ive kind of chosen the fabia vrs MK1 as my next car over the mark 5 golf and 320d,

Was just wondering how is the fabia vrs to drive on a daily basis, ive read alot of potential on remaps and modifications on this model.

What are the common problems/ issues i should check for when purchasing a fabia vrs?

whats the average cost to get a standard fabia vrs to around 170ish bhp?

thanks to all in advance

Go to the Fabia Mk1 section and have a look at the stickies at the start of the section it will give you a fair idea of what to expect.

Welcome to Briskoda, you will find everyone here very helpful and (me aside) very knowledgeable.

I hope you enjoy your Fabia (when you get it) as much as I do mine. It puts a big grin on my face every time I take it out.

I reckon you can get one to 170 bhp for around £200 to £750 depending on how thrifty you are and how lucky you are with group buys that may be on the go, plus what ever other upgrades you want to do at the same time. For example the brakes, various bushes, etc...

Have fun!

Mines up for sale when my MX5 is sold... ;)

spec as per my sig

320d or a VRS - with those options i think i'd be having the Beemer depending on spec.

My last proper car was a 6N2 GTi, i felt the vRS a very natural upgrade.

Don't be fooled by a vRS spec on paper, it's much quicker than a 6N2 GTi, and a lot funner to drive.

Just a remap will see you 170, and as mentioned price will vary on that depending on where and when you go.

Check out the useful sticky thread containing more threads for what to look out for, I'd aim for post facelift though (05 onwards).

yea , because ive been thinking its kind of a big jump in line of performance from a 6n2 gti to a civic type r, so maybe a vrs with a remap would do me good, and yes definately the pre facelift look a little dire now

thanks

I love mine and don't want to change it.

I've had a remap, 175ish bhp, AP coilover kit, a rear antirollbar and a set of Avon ZZ3's

0-60 is 6.4 and will easily push over 140mph (i tried once)

the only problem is that the car was too softly sprung on standard suspension, for the torque when chipped/remapped, with coilovers it just grips and goes no torque steer and still delivers a plesent ride.

the only critisism i have for the car is that the breaks lack feel. they will still kick in to ABS if required so the stopping performance is there, they just lack that initial grab that you get with most modern cars.

312mm brakes

job solved:)

thanks andy. ive made skoda change the master cylinder and slave cylinder under warrenty but that made no differance. ive thought about actavia breaks, but resisted due to the fact that i'd have to re-paint them as mine are red on the LE. im definately considering it though

about 9quid for a tidy size tin of hammerite. i need to redo mine but only takes about 20 minutes to coat them

definatley the best upgrade ive made and its bloody good!

agreed with andrew, hammerite is well good and red is nice and bright ;D

6.4ish @ 170bhp? is that correct? i personally would of thought fabia would need average of 200+bhp to hit the low 7's ?

Wats the differance between pre facelift and facelift fabia models

Wats the differance between pre facelift and facelift fabia models

I am thinking about buying a vrs so I would be interested in the differences?

0-60 in 6.4 your joking right lol , realistically it's mid/high 7s and that's if you were launching it perfectly in perfect conditions.

Mate seriously a vrs over a 320d?! If it's an e90 no brainer.

Very little difference in facelift, possibly a blt engine, bonnet grill is slightly and rear lights, box is slightly shorter, different badge not a lot really but it's covered in loads of threads do a search.

This thread is coming on for nearly 2 years old

Jesus didn't realise that.
