Your thoughts please!

I have a 2006 Octavia 2.0l tdi DSG which has started to play up. Mileage is 25,000 and it has not had the gearbox fluid changed (due at 40,000)

If you give it some acceleration through 2nd & 3rd it will seem to 'skip' two or three times. This happens more when accelerating in D, from lowish revs and it skips around the 2-3,000 rpm stage.

I have been driving it also in M to try and get it to happen and it doesn't seem to do it so much (i'm thinking mechatronic fault?)

At first I thought this was a fuel supply problem, but the more I drive it I fear that there is something up with the DSG...

I know there has been much written about it, failings of the mechatronic unit but as yet haven't read any posts that talk about this specifically. Anyone out there had anything similar?

My plan might well be to get it fixed up to VCDS (can anyone help with that, I'm SE London?) and see if there are fault codes, if not... then I'm not sure...

Anyone had a successful repair / rebuild of mechatronics? (I see there is a company that test and repair)

Update - I got it diagnosed with VCDS (thanks to the help from forum member posterboy)

No faults at all.

Did the basic setting reset procedure for the DSG gearbox.

grrr... It is still doing it!

It seems to happen in the same place in 3rd gear around 1900rpm it will kind of 'skip' or 'slip'. Sometimes once but often up to 2-3 times in quick succession through to about 2200rpm.

I can usually get it to do it when accelerating from 1500rpm in 3rd. It does it in D and in tiptronic mode.

It also happens sometime in 2nd gear, but I haven't managed to pin it down to a specific rpm range when it does it.

The fault seems to be present when coming up from lower revs, or going uphill.

It doesn't do it when cold, and after a long motorway journey into urban driving using the lower gears it often happens.

I think I will try and do a fluid change and see if this makes a difference.

Anyone else have any thoughts or ideas on what this might be? Mechatronic? Clutch? DMF?

Not DSG fault at all! Doh! I've been totally barking up the wrong tree.

Noticed oil round the back of the EGR valve and inlet flap housing. Now reading how common this problem is as they get gunked up. Its low mileage and the previous owner, an very elderly gent only did short trips with the car. It had probably never been booted!

Sure enough when I took the EGR off it was caked up with soot. The inlet flap housing was a bit mucky too. Just cleaning them and ordered new O-rings for that and the throttle body. Hoping that should sort it...
