broken wire between top rear sill and boot lid

Featured Replies

Hello Chaps,

My other half's Felicia 1.6 GLXi (MK2) on a V- Reg has got a problem with its third brake light. I trace the problem down to the wiring loom between the top sill at the back of the car and the boot lid. Its in the nice (TIGHT) rubber cover, and having moved the rubber, I found that the wire had indeed broken.

Of course, I can either solder the wires back together or maybe even crimp it, but I am obvious worried about the fact the wires look as though they've work-hardened and become brital.

The previous owner (who was ham-fisted) even decided to break the lugs on the back of the third break light. He glued them back together [badly], but I was als wondering if anybody knew where I could get a new third brake light for a Felicia Estate?

Anyway, hope you have a fun-filled BH weekend.

Hi,

I think your best bet would either go to a local scrappy and find one or look on the Bay for a car that is breaking and ask if it's available etc.

Personally I had a broken attachment on one side and for £5 replaced it with a led stop bar :)

I was able to order one new from Skoda about 9 months ago - cost less than £20

hi there i think i have the hole loom from back lights to hole tail gate in my shed from my slxi donnor car will have a look for you

If it's brittle, then take down the roof lining, run a new wire to there and join it inside the car, rather than in the connector.

That way you can use suitable flexible cable.
