Help needed with identifying holes underneath car

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone could possibly help me identify the holes in the pictures below? They are underneath my car, with 2 on the driver's side and 1 on the passenger side (at the front of the car, roughly underneath the steering column I think). The last few days, water seems to be coming out of these holes when the car is parked for a while, leading a couple of people to ask me if something is leaking on their driveways! It seems to just be water coming out, but as to why; I have no idea. One idea that occurred to me was that it could be the climate control system releasing condensation or something in the warmner weather recently.

So, all you boffins out there: does anybody know what the holes are for, why there's water coming out of them, and if I should be concerned or not?

Many thanks,

Declan.

When ever I have seen water underneath a car it has always been from the A/C.

It is indeed the same in my 2012 Superb. It is in fact water from the AC system and mine leaks all the time in the hot humid conditions in India.

The sunroof and the scuttle drain into the front wheel arches, the air conditioning condensate drains underneath the car. It's not a leak, it's made that way.

Thanks guys, that's all good to know! At least there's nothing wrong (had to get a faulty exhaust sensor replaced earlier this week, so just a little more paranoid than normal at the minute!)
