3000rpm

Getting back on topic since this isn't the Lounge, have you spent an evening at home reading the Owner's Manual from cover to cover yet, day tripper? rolleyes.gif

come on denis whats your car called?

re the running in - all depends on how long u want to keep it..

if sub 50k thrash it .. if 150k then be careful? your call

1,000 miles

I ran mine in fairly carefully, as I do with all my cars:

First 1000 miles, no more than 4k rpm

Increase rev limit by 500 rpm every 100 miles after that.

Don't labour the engine ie don't try pulling in 5th from 1k rpm

Do use full throttle sometimes just to loosen but remember your rev limit

No problems with mine so far engine wise (apart from coilpacks). Now done 101,000 miles with 8,000 on track :D

sorry denis

When I first got my vRS, my 8yr old Daughter and my wife were in the car, I was being a bit heavy with the acceleration and my missus was moaning (as usual!) when Jodie (my Daughter) piped up "mum, its not Dads fault, SHE just wants to go" !!

From the mouths of babes.

the owners manual doesnt state the exact rpm.

Because exact RPM isn't what matters! The advice on page 108 of the manual is sound, and is worth reading and noting before you complete 1000 miles... :(

Wish my son was a bit more understanding... My better half complains as much as they are allowed in a day about my driving standards, but it doesn't really help my cause if you've got a 4 year old toddler making tyre scream noises everytime I take anything remotely resembling a turn or corner...
