Headlight problem

Featured Replies

Right, I've got a bit of a problem with my passenger side headlight.

A few days ago the indicator stopped working. The bulb looked fine, but changed it anyway, still not working.

If I jiggle the main connector on the back of the light, it came back on, until I let go of the connector block.

The connector has virtually no slack in the cable, and so I can't really get a multimeter in there to see if it's that.

Thought I'd tackle it today by taking the entire headlight out, then checking it out eliminating parts as I go along.

Went to undo the front nut that holds it in.... just goes round and round.

I removed the slam panel to see if I could get to the captive nut.. but you can only just see it with the aid of a torch. Sure enough it's going round and round.

I can only just reach it with a long screwdriver. Tried putting some pressure on it but still no joy.

I even got a big blob of araldite on there to try and hold it in place, but it just broke that and went round again.

Looking at it, I need to remove the headlight to be able to get to the nut in the first place. :(

Help!

Anybody with any ideas?

Only idea I could think of would be a long handled set of pliers...

...I have some here but it's a bit of a jaunt I would have thought for ya!

But if you're getting desperate you're welcome to come play tomorrow lol

Hmm could do. My longest pliers weren't longest to reach it unfortunately :(

Well... Let me know.

At the worst... You could get a breaker bar, a spanner, and some gaffer tape. Tape the spanner and the breaker bar together...

...And use that to hold your captive nut.

Like I said, let me know if I am to expect an appearance ;)
