Are any superb windows doubled glazed?

Laminated windscreens are in effect double glazed but not in the way you might double glaze your house in a cold or noisy environment. I think double glazing normally has a gap between the sheet of glass.

Yes it does albiet a very small one.

If you mean like the Audi A8, then no - all glass is single-glazed.

I found references to double glazing options in the passat and hoped the superb would have the option too. I noticed it on a rangerover sport the other day. The gap between the panes is very small, but looking at the top edge instead of seeing one smooth curve from inside to outside there are two with a small valley between them. It's quite different to a laminated windscreen.

Indeed, my mate had DG in his Merc 500, and the panes are noticeably thick! Not the same as lamination.

I've seen it on M5's and 7 series. It makes for a very quiet cabin.

Did I read somewhere that the glass in the Superb , although not double glazed is slightly thicker than normal to aid soundproofing.

I would be suprised if that was correct as the weight gain against CO2 rise and very little noise reduction (as it is the air gap that is the major factor in noise reduction) and additionally the enginineering to take the thicker glass within the cars frame would in my humble opinion not make it cost effective.

But there again I could also be wrong! Which woud not be the first time.

I had DG on a merc s320. Brill for keeping the heat in and cold and noise out. A pure pig to defrost the windows in the winter. Couldn't get the heat to the outside pane. Pros and cons to double glazing,mostly pros.

Are you sure its dg as opposed to BRG (Bullet resistant glass) and the consoles are racks for your gold plated H&K :think:
