After parrot install/fix Airbag light on, no seatbelt warning, no cruise control

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I had my parrot MK9110i installation being looked at again by installer and they replaced the parrot head unit. After fitting everything back, the airbag light turned on as was last time. I used the same cable and software the installer had to try to reset it but it said that there is a communication error with the airbag unit. I did manage to reset the airbag the time before. I tried disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, disconnected and reconnected the passenger warning light connector, switched on and off the passenger air bag switch in the glove compartment (which didn't lit on and off the light in the console(!)).

I also noticed after leaving the shop that I don't have cruise control any more and that the seatbelt warning light doesn't come on.

Am I in trouble or is it all symptoms of fiddling with the SWING headunit and I simply need to find better OBD reset tools?

I hate going to the dealer..

Sounds like a wiring problem somewhere, have they done anything to the canbus system. A wrong connection on the wiring loom can play major havoc in a modern car, and if they have connected something to the canbus network that should not be there by mistake (12V supply for example) than permanent damage can be done to the cars data network.

I don't have any idea. It seems like I should be taking the car to the dealship afterward.

The issues you have suggest some kind of canbus related problem.

As its the installers fault first step is to get them to cover costs to fix BEFORE it goes in

mbartov,

I am sure that you have check but "just" in case. Is the cruise control switch on the stalk in the off position?

Hi, (name is Moshe :))

Yes, I did play with the cruise control on/off switch several times before realizing it's dead. I will try to go to the fitter to see if he can solve the problem... :(

Good luck.

Car back from the garage:

Damage? few burned fuses - system back to normal..

Conclusions: I should check the basic stuff before developing anxiety..

It is NOT normal that you burn fuses when you install a Parrot!

I would never go back to a garage whose mechanics

1. burn fuses when installing something simple as a carkit and

2. aren't even clever enough to notice that they burnt those fuses....

Notice: You don't burn a fuse without noticing it! When you create a short-circuit, you will create a noticeable spark, before the fuse burns.

Please state the name and address of this garage here, so people can be warned to never go there.

Hi Andre,

I agree. This time (not like the first one) I didn't monitor the fitter work and come back only later to find out the problems.

The fitter is from Israel and it's called "Hanitzoz" in Netanya.

Don't think I will come across him some how.

Why on earth did you choose a Parrot kit instead of the original Bluetooth?

  • Author

Cause' I'm a stupid cheap ******?! :D at least at hind sight..

The dealership offered me the bluetooth upgrade for $400. I bought a refurbished ParrotKit for $200 including installation (and multiple visits to the fitter + sub optimal performance)

The car is a lease so I didn't want to invest to much of my money (I could be returning the car next month or next year - can't tell)
