vrs bumper on a 1.4 comfort

Featured Replies

hi i am new to this site & new to the car modification crew, i love the old fabia vrs' but as i am only 17 insurance is far too much to consider but i wondered if i would be able to buy a front full bumper off a vrs and put it on a 1.4 comfort? as i'm only on apprenticeship wage i do not want to buy one off a breaker to then find it wont fit! if anyone could tell me a straight yes or no answer that would help but if anyone has done this and has photographic evidence would be even better!

Yeah, I think it'll go straight on.. you may need new clips on the wings for the edges to clip into.. and if you have fog lights they won't fit the vRS bumper, even if they're round, so you'll need those and the relevant vRS grills as well.

Paint's not cheap.. So if your car is a vRS colour it'd be worth waiting for one in the right colour coming along...

cheers rob! i wasn't too fussed about the fog lights im a fabricator by trade so i'll just take to ali mesh from work and put them in the holes. but i'm getting a black fabia in the next month i cant wait to start modding but thanks for your help! :)

Right, and now i'll be the voice of reason.

You're 17?

Lets look at this for a min. You're already saying insurance is a lot...

Unless you have a 'mod friendly' insurance company... You're going to have to declare a non-standard (i.e. non OEM for the model of your car) bumper to your insurance... As a 17 year old you are likely to get shafted something chronic for it.

And obviously if you _don't_ declare it... You are uninsured.

Maybe it would make more sense to live with your standard fabia 1.4 and make sure it is all working for a year or two before you go crazy on modding? The money you save by not paying through the nose for mods via insurance/extra bits as a 17 year old you can then save on moving towards something else down the line, or save up and then when your insurance premium starts to come down (and you've built up some NCB), move to a insurance company that is mod friendly and then you'll have stuff saved up to blow on modding to your hearts content.

Just my tuppence on the matter - as a 17 year old... Modding is tantamount to suicide unless you have a bottomless pit of money for insurance/parts. You'd be better off saving the cash and making sure it is running optimally. Maybe make it the tidiest example of a 1.4 comfort you can?
