Anyone fancy buying my car?

Featured Replies

I had a look today at the website where I got my new family car from. Mine is up for sale already,

Here's what I have now.

It's quite a bit different - which is an understatement - but will do the job for a while. The 2.2 i-CDTi engine is pretty amazing and very smooth with plenty of pulling power. There's no way I can compare the two vehicles and if I do then I get upset, but as a family transporter Honda have done well.

If only I could have kept the vRS and had this as a family bus.....

It's kinda funny to read this.

With two kids, I've always looked at these as a replacement if another one comes along.

Not a vRS, but a nice bus all the same.

How's the boot space? Is it as big as the vRS?

I'd had my eye on these for a while too. The boot isn't as big but it's not too bad considering. It isn't as long as the vRS, not a great deal wider yet seems massive inside. The three full seats in the back are great for getting all three children in and having access to the seat belts. The centre seat in the front folds and makes the biggest armrest in the world! It's not my Skoda and I'm mising it all the time, but as a piece if family kit, the Honda is alright.

On the plus side, I've got a very good stereo, heated leather, cruise control and lots of other bits and bobs to keep me occupied on long journeys. There's got to be some silver lining otherwise I'd start crying all over again.

You definitely got a nice one. I can't say I really like the look of the blue cloth interiors I see in most for sale.

Can you get three child seats/boosters in the back okay? Our baby seat (front and rear facing) for the youngest is a monster. At least, it seems that way in the Octavia and Accord in which I've tried it, and you couldn't get someone in the middle.

The other one I would see as a potential family wagon is the Corolla Verso T180, but I think I'd prefer the Honda.

Anyway, don't cry too much. All good things must come to an end, and I'm sure when number three grows up, they might not appreciate being told that daddy cried when they came along because he had to get a different car!! lol

Getting three seats in is a lot easier now. We've got some pretty big seats - Recaro and Britax - as when we bought them, I didn't think that there would be need for a third seat so size wasn't an issue. I've sat three adults in the front and back to test the car and they all fit. My mate who is about 16 - 18 stone (he won't commit to a definitive weight) fitted in the middle seat in the front quite well. If he does, then our five year old will be fine. It's a nice piece of design and very cleverly thought out. I wanted all three children in one row, rather than sending one of them to the far reaches of the boot. This way, we can still dish out food/drink on the go and everyone can have a chat if needs be.

I've stopped crying for now as it's not a good look really. I'll come to terms with it I'm sure and I'd rather have a happy family than a squashed and fractious family. It's all good.

I think it's a great car and the right choice!

But then again, I'm one of the 3 people in the country that actually liked the Fiat Multipla. :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence. It does make sense, but being sensible means I might be growing up!

As for the Multipla, it was on my list. Trouble is, I know three people that have owned one and two of the three had endless issues. The concept is good, but I wondered about the reliablilty of the Fiat. Having said that, my sister owned one from new and it was no trouble at all, but she did sell it when the three year warranty was up.

That's properly cheap!

I know! He prices things to sell I think. In the end I didn't go with the £3800 trade in at the first place, I went to this chap and he gave me £3150. However, the FRV was quite a bit cheaper than everywhere else, so it all worked out. He's only put £800 or so on top for himself, so it's still affordable for someone on here if they want it.

Glad you found a decent looking & performing bus to replace the Octy. I always liked the look of the FRv as a swb suv. looks wise. and to give them their due, Honda's reliability is pretty decent too. When you see lads driving the nuts off old early 90's civics that are still on their first engines... thats a good indicator.

It doesn't mention remap in his ad - was your VRS on the stock map?

Thanks for the comments. The looks are growing on me, although the wife walked past it today without realising it was ours! I'm hoping the Honda reliability proves to be correct as it's cleared me out financially and I need it to work without massive bills for a bit.

I had the RS Tuning map taken off and the OEM map restored by James at Chipboost. He had the original stored on his computer, so it made sense to trade in a standard car. Everything came off, even the Polo cup holders and the Becker head unit.

Still very cheap... he could get loads more than that!

You'd think so wouldn't you? Maybe he's quite clued up and knows what's realistic in today's climate. I guess it's better to sell at £4k than have a potential £5k sitting there for months.

I suppose, yeah...

Ive sent the garage an email in the hope of doing a part ex deal on your VRS, really hope they are interested :)

Cool. Would be nice to see it kept in the community.

I'd like it to go to someone who will look after it for me. Then when the kids are older, I can buy it back.

All being well i will pick it up Sunday :)
