Buying a "new" Fabia

Featured Replies

I've got a 2001 Fabia 1.4 Classic that I'm thinking of upgrading to a 2006/07 Fabia. I just wondered whether there are any common problems with the car like there are with the one I already have. It's been the best car i've ever had in spite of it contracting the famous steering angle sensor fault and the flickering headlights, hence why I'm thinking of getting a newer one. I just wanted to make sure that there hadn't been a considerable drop in quality and, also, whether these common faults had been ironed out! Any opinions greatly received!

I'm not sure about the faults with the older ones but I'm sure they still exist on the later models.

Mine had the issues with leaking door carriers. It's a 56-plate.

I'd still say it is a quality built car.

Had mine built to order was one of the last Estates took delivery mid August 07 - nearly 200,000 KM on it now.

Bushes done for the first time couple of months ago - no leaky doors, will need to change front discs before too long.

The only things I had to do as a "fix" were:-

Reversing lights packed up - wire had broken at the the plug where it goes on to the switch at the gearbox. Soldered in a new length complete with plug from a Touraq brake sensor.

Tailgate started to play up on opening. Cleaned and lubricated release motor.

I keep looking out for an 08 "old" shape Combi 1.4tdi for the wife but no luck so far.
