VRS Cluster fit PD100?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm having immobiliser issues and it's looking that replacing the cluster is the way to go,

I have a 2002 TDI Elegance and was wondering if a VRS cluster would work with my car?

I believe that they are the same ECU and immobiliser system.

I've seen this cluster on fleebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-1-9-INSTRUMENT-CLUSTER-CLOCKS-6Y0-920-970-S-/400215711620?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d2eb71f84#ht_1980wt_937

And like the ad states:

THIS PART IS FITTED WITHIN A SELECT CHASSIS RANGE SO PLEASE CHECK COMPATIBILITY BEFORE ORDERING:

FABIA 2003-04 MODEL YEARS (6Y) WITH ENGINE CODE - ASZ WITH PR NUMBERS - 9Q1, 8W1

But VRS's weren't around in 2002 & like said above same ECU, Immobiliser etc.

I've been told there's no reason why it shouldn't work but for the sake of professionalism it cant be guaranteed,

Just wanted to see what you guys thought before I went ahead with it.

Luke.

Let me know when u find out bud! Iv got same problem with my 2002 pd100 elegance + i have a vrs cluster ready 2 fit. Iv bought VAG TACHO with the intention 2 get the SKP code out of the clocks alowing me 2 code in the vrs clocks but havnt managed 2 get vagtacho 2 work on my laptop (vista home) any help would be greatly received :-)

Ps ecu's are different but are compatable + the clocks would work its just a case of getting them coded.. or getting an imobiliser defeat done allowing you 2 just fit the clocks without codeing ;-)

I'm gonna wait it out and see what sort of response I get on here and then take the plunge.

I'm not brave enough to even try code it myself like you though!

I'll hopefully be taking the cluster down to Shark and they'll sort all that out for £105 which isn't too bad but I'll let you know mate.

Cant start the car at all now so I might have to send off the ECU, kill the immobiliser so I can actually drive the car and then reinstall it with the cluster

Lol ye no wories.. mine starts then cuts out .. then starts + ok.. intermittent. I wrk at VW so can code VW stuff but unfortunately it wont let me get the code using the VW online portal as its a skoda but once iv got the code i should be able to code it using the machine at wrk.. rs-tuning quoted me £75 + vat to de-imobilise it for me but leaves it open 2 theft.. + bought vagtacho for £18 delivered so jus need 2 figure out how 2 get it wrking as it didbt cum with instructions lol... im guna bring it 2 gti inters if anyone knows how 2 get it wrking gi me a shout :-)

Don't know if thats any good to ya fella & I'll keep you updated.

On the Golf, they had different IMMO types (IMMO 2 & 3). These couldn't be swapped freely (but could in some directions), could be something to look into?

did this to mine someone on here helped me and made the suggestion on how to make it work but cant remember who haha

basically yes it works obviously you have to get the immo and bits programmed to it only problem is that the fuel gauge works backwards.. you solve this by fitting either a hole vrs fuel lift pump with the gauge sender bit or you can buy the little gauge sender bit separate, easier to just fit the hole unit they come up on ebay all the time i got mine for £25 i actually had 1 spare not long ago but sold it on why couldnt have you asked this question about 2 months ago! aha

i think just the gauge sender bit is about £50 maybe a bit more from a dealer

Appreciate the reply I'll do some research to see whether the immobiliser changes through out the fabia years.

This is what I've been waiting to hear!

I knew someone on brisky would of had to of done this.

So am I right in saying that the fleebay unit I've found will just be a straight swap & all I need is the coding (done @ shark) and this fuel gauge sender.

How easy is the sender to fit & do you by any chance know the part number?

Thanks for the reply mate.

yes you are right in thinking that but dont buy that one! i bought mine for about £40 but have seen them over the past 6 months going for like silly cheap like £10 its worth the wait if possible and regarding the fitting of the fuel sender its very easy there is 2 specialist tools for it

one looks like this \/ \/ \/ \/ \/ (very bad drawing i know) thats used to removed the fuel pipes quite possible to use something else

61154725.jpg

another one has sort of three arms on it to remove the big plastic nut that holds the fuel pump in could use a big pair of grips for this

if you live near dartford area (DA1) i could probably borrow the tools from work and do it for you once im back from my holiday on the 5th or tbh the people at shark should be more than capable of doing this

oh yeah and im not sure what the part number was i know it has superseded a few times now but if i get a chance tomorrow i will have a look in my car because i think it is on the top of the pump
