Galaxy S2 knackerd

Featured Replies

I was taking pics of stuff to put on ebay when my s2 froze, after waiting a couple of mins to see if it would fix itself I turned it off using the power button. Since then it just freezes on the Galaxy screen. Tried pressing all the buttons to get it to reset with no luck.

Anyone got any idea what else to try before i take it to the repair centre in the morning??

Can you remove the battery as sometimes this re-boots the system

Err only holding the volume down button and tapping the power button works, but it's not the menu they say it should be it say for downloading a custom OS!!

I WAS going to suggest upgrading to the S3, but as it's still under warranty I guess it's still within you contract period.

Hope you get it fixed. :(

Well i find out tomorrow morning if it's just a case of reflashing or its dead and i'll have to wait for a new one :(

If you're going to reflash it I'd say it's worth popping Cyanogenmod9 daily ROM on it, if you don't mind loosing your warranty. Seems more stable than Samsung's own Touchwiz.

The service centre's gonna try and reflash it not me. Rather keep my OS standard incase this sorta thing happens lol

On holiday 2 weeks ago it was that hot I sweated on my s2 and wrote it off :(

Turn it off then whilst holding the Volume Key UP + the Home button in, press & hold the power button.

No tapping of any keys is required.

Find Clear cache, select it & let it do that first. Then do the factory wipe (select Yes) and then restart it.

If that doesn't work do those two again, but this time don't let it reboot, take the battery out for a MINIMUM of 15 minutes and then try restarting it.

Phone's dead, they tried everything so think it's more likely to be a mainboard problem. Its now been sent off to O2 to be hopefully fixed or replaced

Good job you don't have one of those delicate HTCs.

Oh wait...

LOL

Hope raf has a backup app running and didn't send his memory card back. Mybackuppro on daily backup here.

I've read about this problem more than once with the s2. I thought mine had succumbed yesterday, but eventually it powered back up. I think its only a matter of time.....

Got my phone back today had a sticker saying new main board or something. Would of gotten it back a lot sooner if the dim wits at the O2 shop had remembered to send it out! The phone seems to be running loads better must of been ill for a while lol

I'm on the hunt for a decent symbian nokia (or similar) to do mail and tethering.

The S2 doesn't even last half a day now, or if you don't use it at all, you can get about 8 hours of standby.

Completely useless.

Nothing worse than a knackered phone, I had a nasty experience with an old Sony Xperia X10i. Phones now do so much and can get quite hot also which can cause boards to fry. Glad you got it sorted.

Got an N96 with box and everything in good condition somewhere if any good? It's T-mobile branded and locked though.

Had exactly the same issue since upgrading to ICS on mine.

After a fair bit of hunting I found Better Battery Stats on XDA Forum which solved my issue in one day.

The built in email app was stopping the S2 from going into deep sleep. Removed my email account and downloaded the official Hotmail app.

Now I am at 60% battery with the phone being unplugged since 8am (albeit lightly used due to a migraine).

Might be worth a hunt to find what is causing your battery issue.
