I've taken the plunge too!

Featured Replies

I ordered a hatch diesel 170 DSG Elegance with L&K pack in Cappuccino on Monday! The only extras I've gone for are heated windscreen and spare wheel. I'm hoping the heated windscreen will make life easier in the winter as I live in Brecon, the car stands in the open and I start work early, so I'm often scraping the ice off!

It should be ready in October or November. I've noted comments about waiting for an upgraded design, but I don't expect the VAT free offer will extend when to when it is available and the price will probably go up if the car is improved, so the plunge has to be taken somewhere! Anyway, I like the car and am pleased to have made the decision to change and that's what is most important.

The dealer could get one immediately from stock in the colour we wanted (SWMBO actually chose that bit and I chose the rest!) but without a heated windscreen. I opted to wait as we're off in the car for three weeks to Lithuania and Belarus at the end of the month (see post in Superb MkI). The new car would have been more economical than the V6, but we stay most of the time in Klaipeda, Lithuania with SWMBO's parents. The area is all Soviet apartment blocks and the only place to park is to find a space on the road. I would be nervous about leaving a brand new car out there in case anything happened. I look after my cars and I would be annoyed if this one was dented or scratched, but it wouldn't be quite so upsetting as the new one getting damaged! Also, you cannot insure a car in Belarus from this country. We're going via there for three days on the way home and will have to buy insurance at the border. Again, if anything goes wrong, our present car is a lot less to lose compared to a brand new one!

I read your post in Superb 1 ref your trip. Have a nice drive and I can't blame you for thinking abou damage to your car.
