Could you 'take@ a remap off another car??

Featured Replies

Guys

I know of another 4x4 turbo with a revo for sale at a dealership.

They have switched it off and are selling it without the remap switched on.

Is there any way that for a small price it could be transferred to mine, thus saving me money. The way I see it is that is is little use on a dealership car as they can't sell it with it on anyway?

Cheers

Chris

Not with REVO, no. In fact, if they've "switched it off" either there was an SPS supplied with it (which _is_ worth some money), or they've overwritten the REVO code with factory settings. Either way the answer is no, since REVO software is simply uploaded via the serial port, and moving it would effectively be the same as mapping your car from scratch, so no reason for it to cost any less.

With a complete non-switchable ECU remap, the answer is yes, if both ECUs are the same (exactly the same, same part number) - I did this with my Fabia.

Take ecu's out of both cars, pop Revo'd one into yours, stock into the one in the dealers, re-set the immobilisers using vag-com / diagnostics... drive to the nearest person you know with an SPS device, switch it on and enjoy!!
