Remaps - Revo v Shark

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm considering a remap for my vRS Fabster, and either a Revo which I can get locally or a Shark, as they seem well thought of here.

Can anyone tell me the pros/cons of these two maps?

The Shark is about 15bhp less, will this be much different?

Also Shark offer a Self Tuning System where you don't need to go their premises.

Is this system as good as visiting the premises and getting them to do it in person?

Cheers!

I would vote Shark, as they do nice smooth progressive maps. It's not really about getting the highest willy-waving BHP figure; to me drivability is what you're looking for, and a Shark map gives you that without shredding your clutch with a spiky map. The STS is straightforward to use, and provided your car is in good condition, there's no reason not to opt for it. Not quite as good as visiting them, but has advantages in that you can put the original map back on, or an imobilising map. Also, if you sell your car, you can put the original map back on it, and use the STS to map another (compatible) car.

I have a Shark map. I've been behind a couple of people on runs who are running Revo.

Absolutely no difference between the two on the road, except less smoke coming out the back of my car :)

Was yours done via the STS route or did you take it to them?

+1 My brother has a Revo map and his smokes like a train, it seems to pull a little better but maybe that's due to the torque spikes that Revo are famous for?

Shark mapped out my eml because I run egr delete, very smooth map

Hahaha Sam has first hand experienceby following my car. Ridiculous for smoke. It came with a revo, and while it has higher peak figures, the map is so spikey you have to adapt your driving style with gears changes, to stay in the power, like a petrol.

Go for a Shark Remap. A nice linear torque/power curve.

Peek power means absolutely **** all, as already said, you could have 10/20/30bhp more and a car with less could muller you because they have a nice smooth power curve. Better to have 170bhp across most of the rev range than 190bhp for all of 500rpm.
