Rear parking sensors

Featured Replies

Ok, so I need to ask a question of the informed masses...

I looked in my manual for how to adjust the entertainment volume when your go into reverse, it said look in the manual for the head unit; which didn't come with the car!

So I downloaded one, only to find that the menu in the volume settings is not there on my columbus!?!?

Any ideas?

mines is the same yet the car was spec'd with a columbus lol.

Do you mean the parking sensor volume ? If so as far as I remember it's in one of the maxidot menus

ehhhh not on mine mate, but i'll check when she gets back, wouldnt mind it a tad louder.

There are only four levels of music volume dimming IIRC.

No change in volume;

Small change (VERY small change);

Medium change;

Large change (turns music off completely).

I'll check their location in the menu system when I get out to the car later.

If its the volume of the buzzer / beeps, I can't change that with the Columbus (I don't have Maxidot) but can with VCDS (5 choices for each).

I'm going by my brothers new vrs which has front and rear sensors it's in one of the maxidot menus

Yep, front and rear sensor volume adjustment is in the maxidot menu.

I need Maxidot...

.

That's a minidot!

Shhhh, you're not supposed to notice, I replied without re-reading the thread *facepalm*

:giggle:

When I select reverse gear on my Octavia the radio volume goes very quiet, however I don't have parking sensors

Bugger!

The volume on my Columbus does not quieten down when I select reverse, the only way I can get it do so is to turn it off or select mute.

Ian

On my pre-FL (non Vrs) it is possible to change the settings via the Columbus touch screen (I don't have Maxidot, but I do have a post-FL Can & PDC / OPS for front and rear sensors).

Press 'Tone' button;

The 'Volume settings' (on the screen);

Then PDC Reduce audio vol. (on screen);

This brings up a sub-menu with: Off (no change to volume), Low (almost unnoticeable change), Medium (a reasonable change that I have mine set to) or High (turns the music off altogether).

Watch the video.

If that is not there, I don't recall seeing it as something that can be 'added' using VCDS and might only be available if OPS is active. Sorry.

hmmm i dont have that feature above, which seems odd.

Are the sensors Skoda OE ones? If not, the wont integrate with the CANBUS and therefore the Columbus.

Just a thought!

All factory fitted options. But I suppose if this is my only whinge then I'm a happy Skoda convert. :hi:

Two guesses then:

If your car is pre-FL, it just might not be possible to enable this facility;

Your car might not have been coded properly (I vaguely remember a tick box in VCDS when coding in parking sensors on a Bolero).

Do you know which PDC controller & CAN Gateway you have on your car?

Er... :think:

Nope.

Where do I check that?

Find a local member with VCDS (there is a 'sticky' in the ICE section), ask them to run a scan and drop them a couple of beer tokens.

Once the CAN & PDC controllers are known, it should be possible to work out where the problem is (if there is one).
