De Badge cock up!

Featured Replies

Took the 'OCTAVIA' letters off the back of my black vRS and now I wish I hadn't!

The paint, being as soft as warm butter, is now scratched from the cloth I used to get the glue off.

After a good wash, T-Cut and polish to the affected area took the car for a spin and the initial covering of road dust clings to the empty space making the outline of the letters visible again. :(

How much to stick 'em back on again?

So you have managed to damage your car with a cloth??!!??

Stay well away if you have any tools in your hands!! ;)

sounds more like you haven't removed all of the residue mate. get a cloth with some turps on it, give a good rub then wash the area again. hopefully it'll all be good but i am quite drunk so nah nah nah nah nah

The spot has to be well-polished afterwards :D

Sounds like you have not removed the gum that fixes the sticker on. Paint would not be soft as it is baked on at the factory. Try a bit of petrol. Takes a while as it smears and rolls up into balls of snot. Use loads of clean paper towel.

Id use 'bug and tar' remover before turps or petrol but make sure you wash and wax the area after.

i have the same problem after doing mine, you can see where the badges where thats un affected but where i have rubbed with a cloth its like thousands of tiny scratches making dull patches...i T cut and it goes... my eventual plan is too see if a body shop can buff it out its like the laquer has been damaged

Thanks for the suggestions chaps.

I did use lighter fuel to get the glue off but there must be some residue. I didn't want to use turps incase the paint came off the car. I've still got the vRS badge on the back as I was so p*ssed off about the letters going Pete Tong.

I might leave it on now, it looks OK. I'll try some of that there tar remover.

Black paint is softer than other colours for some reason. Skoda Black paint is recognised by the Guinness book of Records as being the Softest paint in the World.

i have used white wpirits on ym car's a few times over the years, just make sure you wash it off and no damage is done

Mine came off with no problems. Only used a hair dyrer, load of spit and my thumb!! Sorted!!
