N249 System Removal required items?

Featured Replies

I have read the guide on here

http://www.pimpmyskoda.co.uk/V2Images/ModsEngine/N249Removal.htm

Very good guide and highly informative

Just wanted to know if I need anything to do it or is it literally detachment of pipes and parts?

so for instance blanking plates? breathers? pipes for re-routing?

Not a complete novice but this is the most complicated car I've owned

Also does it put up a fault code or any draw backs?

You just need forge blanking plate and the 2 resisters and a length of 3mm vac hose,

The breather pipes are infront of the pipework and mine fell to bits when i tried seperating them

Don't bother putting resister in SAI pump connector as current will just blow it to bits, just pull relay out in fusebox on bulkhead

What he said :) Except that's news to me about the resistor, going to pull that relay tonight :D

remove the relay and remove the horrid box it sits in.. tidys the bay up alot i think. Loom fits in the plastic trunking with no problems.

I broke the cover on my trunking - must replace it.

bummer dude.. they do get a bit brittle dont they.

which relay is it as av been meanin to do mine , got the blankin plate and just need the resistors , pics would be good also

cheers

New to the site, what benefit does this give??

Less stuff to go wrong, you dont get the droning noise from sai pump every morning, car feels more responsive.

Downsides you may get engine warning light on from not having removed bits fitted even with resistors in it

I have two relays:

According to Google, 100 is the SAI one, 428 is the ECU power relay, which seems fairly important :)

Gee, did you relocate that one?

yeh mate, its in the trunking :)

Rob, i took these for you whilst i was down the garage today.. the relay tucked away..

nice and cozy!

Sweet, will be doing that very soon, thanks.

So do you just pull off that 428 bit off and that is the relay disconnected?

As for the fault codes... can't you get a mapper to knock them out?

i got these little bad boys mate so no fault codes

the relay box come apart really easy, the 2 looms split and you can hide the, Really is a 3 minute mod! i love the fact i used the relay box bracket for my Catch can! i mite try and do some "how toos" whist im waiting for my money tree to grow and its sat in the garage.

Would that be a help to ya?

Yes it would! I am looking at what you have done above and can't make heads or tales of it.

the resisters there are in place of the connectors that you clipped into the "N" valves. I cut them off and soldered these on. then i just wrapped them in the plastic cowling so they look nicer. You need to keep them open to the air as they will get hot.

this is where they sit buddy.. (little yellow squares)

Can the forge blanking plate be purchased anywhere cheaper as £21 seems a lot for a small bit of metal

Can anyone give me a pleb picture as I've got two of those resistors now but i'd like to see exactly where they go as Rob's guide is good but not a step by step for amateurs like me

I would like to tag onto this also as I'm about to attempt this and every little bit extra help is greatly appreciated. Also where do people buy their resistors from as they have to have a heat sink don't they? Cheers

Mine came from RS components.
