new tyres on my fabia vrs

Featured Replies

I couldnt get my favorite maxxis victras that have worked so well (even with 1.6 mill in this awful weather!) as there are none in stock at the manufacturer..

so settled for Khumo KU39's..

they get good reviews and look ok (reviews on 'tyre review' say not as good dry grip as maxxis, but better wet grip.... so should be ok)

at only £66 a corner, got to be worth a punt!

at the moment, the new ones are not as good at the old ones! :( but this is to be expected... tyre reviews state a few hundred miles to bed them in before they give up the grip, as was the case with the maxxis anyway...

I'll write a proper review, when I have covered a few thousand miles, and tested them in all conditions :)

note: mods... PLEASE dont move this to the tyres section, I have already posted it in there, and so few people go on there, I may get 200% more interaction in here!

I think it's fine for them to be in here given how sensitive the vRS is to tyres. I've just changed to Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalins. Never heard of them before but are new to the UK. Weren't cheap at £95 a tyre but the Potenza RE050A was £130! Like you I'm finding initially the aren't gripping as well as the older tyres. I'm finding on some corners I'm turning in a little more. Once they are warm though they feel really pointy and you know where they are. They feel more fun

Ive just change my tyres over to the Avon ZZ3, had them on all previous cars and never had a problem with grip levels or anything so thought id give them ago... and at £ 70 a corner its alot cheaper :)

The only tyre I won't have again will be Conti's. Loads of grip when new but go off the cliff near the limit markers. Didn't last long either. What mileage you all getting from a set of front tyres?

I had about 9-10 k from the fronts then swap to the rears which gave me 16-17k so they dont last long... and they are not that special, well not 130 a corner special. Im the same martyn i wont be putting them back on

I have to admit I am a lover of Uniroyal Rainsports but I have just broken the mould and fitted Toyo Proxes 4 to my motor.

My brother has those on his Swift Sport. Haven't driven it much with them on, only back from the garage when it had them fitted but they felt great

I'm on 26000 miles on my Conti's... They're past legal limits but I'm getting them swapped on Monday (had to wait till payday).

As already said, found the Conti's to grip well for the first while then all of a sudden your sliding off round-a-bouts?!?!

I'm going to get a set of Michelin PS3's. £116 from blackcircles fully fitted and have a flying review on tyrereviews.

I think with the contis, because they are German (legal limit 3 mill) they stop all the clever silica compunds at 3 mill, that give the grip, and just like formula 1 , they "go off a cliff" lol.. you never need to check wear rates on conti tyres, just wait until they try to kill you ;)

I've got hundreds of miles to do this weekend, I'll do a prelimilary report on the kumho's after that :)

Changed my front ones last week as my pirrellies had worn down to about half a mil, now got yoko paradas, which seem fairly grippy in the dry so far but not so good in the wet

ok, night on 700 odd miles now... pushed it hard in the bad rain yesterday, and they are "fine" they grip exatctly the same as the maxxis did, so far then I'm happy enough (as they were a little cheaper, not much!)

thing is they were supposed to be better in the rain, so I'm not overly confident they will match the maxxis in the dry (the maxxis were the best tyres I have ever had in the dry)..

we'll see....

ok, to finish off, I have now pushed them in the dry , and no, they are not as good as the maxxis....

they have noticably less grip, but are still reasonable, and very progressive....

at £66 fitted per corner, I cant complain :)
