How to say Skoda ?

Featured Replies

Original name is pronounced Shkoda, as the Š in Škoda is Sh.

And in some Continental languages, German in particular, they pronounce the 'e' at the end of a word as 'ah'.

Mac

Oh the shame of owning a Skoda. Lol

No, you got that wrong - it means "Shame you others were too thick to buy a Skoda!"

When I rang for my seven day free insurance for new car recently, the (pre recorded) woman's voice pronounced it 'Shh-Ko-Da'

Octavia is pronounced OC -TA VIA it is Latin http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octavia_the_Younger I worked in an Italian restaurant for 16 years and Emanuel from Milan said I was the first Inglese ( :giggle: ) that pronounced it correctly

Being from London I regularly get a wrist slap from MK lecturers with the pronounciation.

Skoda - Shkoda

Octavia - Octarvia

Fabia - Farbia

Are apparently the correct ways! We all know what we are talking about, unless you have a customer who asks "do you have one of the those Citi60's in yet"? Citigo? Yes..... Citisixty?

Blackspaven I have heard that from a few people about the Skoda meaning shame.
