Hot phone charger

Featured Replies

Used my 12v cig lighter socket to charge my phone for the first time yesterday and I noticed the charger got pretty hot. Anyone else noticed similar, and should I be worried about it?

Thanks in advance

Adam

Wouldn't worry about it, if you feel your standard home plug charger you'll notice that gets pretty warm too when it's charging.

That's why it's not a good idea to leave anything like that switched on when not actually being used as they are responsible for quite a lot of fires!

Thanks chaps

Is it a cheap no name one? I had one nearly melted in wifes car. Now I use a decent OEM one, does not get worm.

Belkin so not the cheapest no, but not OEM. I don't use it much just if I run low if I've forgotten to charge the night before. So not a massive issue, was just bit worried if it was an issue with the car not the charger.

Thanks

Adam
