1.9 TDI Will a poly Dog Bone Insert Cause Too Much Vibration?

Featured Replies

Considering this purchase because my engine seems to shift a bit, however, is a poly insert too stiff???? Or should i just go OEM, Engine is pretty smooth but cabin vibration apparently increases with poly.

Cheers

Trust me - if you want to be able to live with it on a daily basis and have passengers... Don't do it. I've learnt by doing a solid poly dogbone on a petrol, which isn't anywhere near as bad as it would be on a diesel.

I could possibly live with it and it did make the shifts more precise (but it does highlight ALL of the loose fitting internal cabin parts which will drive you insane if you don't fix them!), but my missus and little boy? Not so much.

OEM for this all the way. If you are feeling adventurous however... You _could_ try finding yourself some solid rubber block and fashion your own which would be firmer than OEM but not as harsh as poly.

At least that's my opinion on the matter.

Go for the Powerflex RED dogbone,is for diesels.I have it on my petrol, and has zero vibrations, the feeling is awesome...now I want my other 2 top mounts made from polyuretane. It can't be much harder on the diesel, and it will get a bit soft by the time.

After you buy it,I'll show you to install it properly,it's very important.

Today i actually cut other mounting rubber down and stuck and extra 5mm either side of the centre wall in the mounting and that has really tightened it up. It was a pig to compress down and get the bolt to bite though
