Hi,

The alarm on my Octavia II estate has just started acting up.

When I locked my car the alarm sounded a couple of seconds later, I tried opening and closing all of the doors and tailgate and opening and closing the windows and nothing worked.

In the end I had to leave the drivers door unlocked or else the alarm would always go off.

Usually the doors lock automatically when the car is not locked but I managed to avoid this.

I have even tried locking the doors with the actual key (radical I know), but it never worked, the alarm kept on activating as soon as the doors were locked.

It happened first yesterday morning but was fine in the afternoon, but then happened again last night and was fine again this morning!

Any ideas?

Will it mean a trip to the dealer?

My car is a 1.9tdi Ambiente, so I don't have the management system on the dash.

Any help from my fellow Occy drivers would be gratefully accepted.

There's an intrusion motion detector behind the little panel that contains the front interior light. The panel pops out of the headlining fairly easily. You could try removing it to see if that makes any difference. Not a very scientific approach to the problem I know, but easily done and may be worth a try.

Have you tried pressing the lock button on the keyfob twice in quick succession to disable the interior sensors, and see if that makes a difference?

Drivers piller does have the motion sensor button desactivator, try it.

Tried disabling the interior sensors by either pressing the key fob twice or by pressing the button on the drivers door column.

Neither had any effect.

My theory is that it may be a fault in one of the door or window sensors, but I've tried opening and closing everything with little affect.

Not sure I want to fiddle with the head lining, but cheers anyway.

Sounds like it might be the siren, you'll need a scan with VCDS or a trip to the dealer.
