Height adjustment on Jumbo Box!

Featured Replies

Since I bought the car, it's irked me slightly that the armrest isn't quite high enough... Well earlier, I stumbled across a not-so-obvious feature that fixes this! Open the lid a few inches and it will lock in a more horizontal position. Raise it all the way again and it will close normally.

Now, I'm sure lots of you already know this, but if I hadn't done it by accident I wouldn't have known, and I bet there are others out there too.

So, there you go

Now I really want one in mine.

(I did anyway - just can't find anyone selling one at a good price).

The owner's handbook is a wonderful thing. I wonder how many people don't bother actually reading it?!

The what? ;)

It is truly the most comfortable arm rest ever! Just wish handbrake was easier to use with it extended, oh well can't have everything ????

RTFM

What..!! Where would I find that :D

In the Jumbo box?

If you open the big door at the back of the car, you will be surprized to find a space there reserved for items other then people, like shopping bags, or suitcases.

I like this thread, keep the helpfull tips coming people!

When you're sitting in the driver's seat, the big wheely thing in front of you allows you to change the direction of the car.

(That's not in the manual either, maybe it's a hidden feature)

Mods: may as well delete this thread. Seems everyone already knows everything.

Won't happen again.

I didn't actually know you could adjust the height of the jumbo....off out to try it right now! Back in 2 ticks....

Yup, it works. Like a ratchet on the angle of the lid as opposed to level raising of the whole thing. I've never actually lifted the lid only slightly - only even all the way to open it so I never spotted this. Ha. :)

Did you try the slider(in out) also?

Knew it did it (cos I read the book! ;)) but I couldn't really see the reason why cos it then doesn't sit flat.

I've known how to operate the jumbo armrest for a while but, for when my wife drives my Yeti, I need it flat but about 4 inches higher.

I've scoured the likes of Superskoda.com and ebay but without, as yet, any success.

Does anyone know of an after market bolster that I will be able to fit on top.

Best I could suggest is some foam, upholstered in a black fabric or even leather and then have a velcro fastening underneath that you could use to attach to the top of the Jumbo Box. Or use a length of elastic sewn in.

Never seen anything like this 'off the shelf', but wouldn't be that difficult to make up.

Thanks; a sensible suggestion at last. I was thinking of something like this. ;)

I'll either have to go for a DIY 'Heath Robinson' mod or perhaps try to find an upholsterer or leather smith who can help me.

Think you could probably come up with quite a nice DIY solution there. Upholsterer should be able to come up with something for you quite easily, if you don't want to physically 'do it yourself' :)

Might be worth an ask to Seat Surgeons who are obviously pretty well known for their Skoda leather retrofitting abilities, see if they can rustle something up with a few off-cuts :)

is this height adjustment on the FL octys as i tried it on my pre face it only slides back and forward but not up and down?
