weird clutch problem

Featured Replies

hi guys, had a really weird problem today after the vrs had been stood for two days went to drive of and couldnt get no gears, clutch pedal felt fine just couldnt select nowt, so after a bit of head scratchin turned it of selected first and started,a bit of a clunk later every thing is as it should be, drove the hour home no problem what can this be ? i did have to drive through a bit of a flood but this was 20 miles before i parked up.

anybody have any ideas,

cheers dave.

maybe a dual mass flywheel problem. does tickover sound change with clutch released compared to engaged?

...i did have to drive through a bit of a flood but this was 20 miles before i parked up...

This will be the cause. Two parts will have rusted together. That clunk was the bond breaking, so you should be OK now.

actually yes i hadnt thought of that aspect, good point that man

cheers guys, there is no noise change when clutch is pressed so lets hope it was a bit of rust, this sounds like the cheaper option :giggle:

thanks again dave

700 note cheaper

I've had the same thing happen. Drove through a flood two minutes before parking at work about 2 months ago now. Wouldn't go into gear when I finished work until I switched engine off. Started it in first with clutch out and it's been fine ever since.
