aarrrrgghh dashboard creak !

Featured Replies

Finally started sorting the SE's rattles out only to find a creak in the dash

I thought it was the ticket holder thing on the drivers side screen so packed it out to no avail

Any ideas or its all coming apart :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:

Have you packed out the dash support behind the centre vents? Typical issue with the Fabia 1 - there's a link somewhere on here !

German build quality :)

Slightly off topic I want one of these ticket holders any idea on part number?

The ones that blow people or the window ? it sounds like it right from underneath the dash where it meets the a pillar

Sure its not the glove box rattling against the dash?

Sorry that wasnt very detailed, basically the glove box lid doesnt quite close to the gap fully so there is some small noise that comes from that unless you have sorted that?

Underneath the dash in the centre above the radio - often it's difficult to tell where the noise is coming from as it gets reflected off the windscreen etc. but if you press down on the top of the dash in the centre aboiut half way back from the windscreen it will stop the rattle / creak noise and that is a sure sign that the dash bracket needs packing out...

If it's not that it could be the bonnet hinges or the associated rubber stoppers that are creaking and sounding like the noise is in the car - try greasing them up a bit?

Try knocking off the steering adjustment catch. if it stops, pad the catch with a rubber bung. otherwise, check the suppport bar at the back of your stereo slot, theres a brace that gets cut when fitting big stereos, this causes a creak too.

Cheers will do

Sorry to thread jack but ive got a rattle on the left side up where dash meets windscreen at pillar. I folded a magic tree up an stuffed it down there which works for a day or two. my question is if i remove glove compartment etc will i find a screw that just needs tightened? or could i put in a self tapper through back of glove box into the bulk head, or scuttle whatever ya wanna call it?

cheers
