Hybrid Turbo cut off

Featured Replies

Car: Fabia vRS

Used to be owned a few years back by a brisky member phil_monk

Hello all, my turbo appears to cut/turn off when its not been used for 2-3 days, this normally occurs soon as I hit the motorway/ anything above 60ish

I was aware of this when buying the car, at first I wasn't too bothered but now its starting to get a little annoying

The previous owner stated that the cut off was like a fail-safe, and had something to do with one of the sensors

I'm not sure how this can be fixed permanently

any help would be great

many thanks

p.s the trip computer showing the MPG is rather crazy and constantly reads random figures when driving from e.g '7' - '170' mpg???, sometimes its goes blank showing '- - - -'

Mods include: hybrid turbo, EGR delete and remap

Going into limp mode - possibly because of sticky veins on the turbo, or too much boost is being requested.

The MPG you're showing is the instant one, which as it suggests, shows MPG at that instant, so will change depending on where you right foot is.

oh ok thanks for clearing the MPG issue out  , I thought it was broken or something lol

As for the turbo, I forgot to mention when I turn the car off and back on again after pulling over in a safe place, the issue no longer exists and the car pulls and drive as it shud (no turbo cut off)? this is the part that confuses me and leads me to rule out some of the common issues

Yep, going into limp mode then.

Get it scanned with VCDS to see what fault codes it has logged.

ahh ok thanks for that, looks like I will be taking a trip to Unit 18 as they seem to be local (I live near MK)

Big thanks to Jonny5ive who had previously recommended them

also recently the exhaust control light is on when doing longer journeys

I'm guessing you also have a front mount intercooler? if not you really need it with a hybrid
