Alarm went off! (don't know why)

Featured Replies

Ironically less than 24 hours after it coming up in conversation with someone about my car I said something along the lines of "The car has an alarm but I doubt I will ever hear it go off"....... Next day I park car at work in the morning and go inside all is well (1 press to lock) I then go back for something an hour later and one press to open it then lock again, again 1 press to lock. 10 minutes later we hear an alarm going off in our car park and glance out thinking it was someone elses and my F'ing lights are flashing etc. Killed it with the key fob and unlocked/relocked door and didn't go off again. All doors were closed inc boot and bonnet properly so have no idea perhaps a rouge spider inside and a sensor?

It did that on mine before it died, the alarm that is

The cause will be recorded, and a VCDS scan will reveal why it went off.

I have just twigged what it was most likely my DoD GS600 Dash cam has been fixed to windscreen since I got it about 10 months ago when I went back out to car that evening after work to move it to my fav space at end nearest door to the office the cam was on floor and had lost its seal on windscreen. Only just remembering that now flippin thing must have set it off when it dropped.

Panic over cheers for help :D

I had a similar 'alarm issue' at a customers factory. The woman on the swtichboard told me the alarm was going off a few minutes after getting something out of the car. I went out to find a box I have moved had fallen over in the estate area.

The interior sensor is a tad to sensible.

With the VCDS you can turn down this.

I have and now can leave the windows a bit open if want to, and when I leave the kids in the car for a minute or 2, I do lock the car and only if only they are having those normal brother/sister fights will the alarm go off.

Locking the door again or unlocking without actually openong the doors, I get the feeling the alarm is not reseted.

On the car back seat, I have a cover for the dogs, that came loose and set the alarm off. Read the handbook and there is a switch on the B pillar drivers side low down, which switches off the internal sensor, always use it now. ;)

An alternative to this is to press the lock button on the remote twice in quick succesion - turns off the internal sensors.
