VRS chugging

Featured Replies

I need a little help. I have a Octavia vrs and it is chugging at low speeds, and when idling it is running at little higher than normal revs. Any ideas? could do with a bit of help?

Welcome to the forum.

Nothing worse than chugging in public.

If no help comes here, maybe there will be more from the Octavia section,

possibly more chugging experienced there!

I am having problems with my Octavia vrs. It is chugging at slow speed especially if the speed is contant. It also is running at slightly higher revs occasional when idling. It feels like there is a restriction of fuel to engine. Fuel filter was changed a month ago and also it recently had the injectors changed by skoda due to the recall. Any ideas anyone could do with a bit of help.

Throttle body clean might help.

That sounds like your DPF regeneration cycle.

The ECU feeds more fuel into the combustion camber in order to heat up the exhaust fumes and clear the cabon deposits out the honey comb of the DPF, this results in a high idle (1000rpm or just slightly above) and lumpy power delivery.

Also drinks fuel like its going out of fashion!

Bloody cheek.. :moon:

You will probably have more luck in the correct forum, i am sure a mod will be able to move this thread to the correct forum for you if you can let us know which year your octavia is.

When it goes into this mode, do any lights come on the dash? Also can it do it whilst the engine is still cold just after start up?

Thanks

Is that a question to him or about the DPF regen?

Dpf regen; No lights will come on the dash till it requires a forced regeneration (little yellow box with a tail pipe on the end) and no the high idle will not kick in till you have driven the car. After you turn the engine off, the ECU will cancel the regen and start up again once certain sensors tell it that it need to.
