Will Rs Rear Brakes Fit A 4x4

Featured Replies

I am looking to upgrade the rear brakes on the Octy 4x4.

I am currently looking for the vented set up off of other VAG 4x4 cars. However I have been told the vented rears + callipers etc off the Vrs may fit

So Question to the knowledgable ones, will they or wont they ????????

Yet another subject for a FAQ.

When I get home tonight I'll have a look.

Denis,

If its been asked before I can only apologise for having missed it but I would still like some of the knowledgable ones to comment. I have been trying to find the bits from a TT 4x4 or S3 but they apear to be like rocking horse poooh or I am looking in the wrong field.

yes should do...

My comment was not directed at you in any way. Its just that from time to time topics crop up which would be very suitable for inclusion in our FAQs - and yours is one. :D

afraid the 4x4 discs are different from the others.

Can you please elaborate?

not atm but i know they are different to all the other models.

Sorry to drift slightly off subject but...

What about the Fabia? Would brakes from an RS fit the Fab.

Is it just the caliper carrier thats different, or are the calipers different too between models?

afaik the disc's calipers and carriers are different.

Hmm was hoping i might be able to do a brake upgrade by swapping the caliper carriers (relocating standard calipers) and upgrading to larger discs.

Probably wishful thinking really!

'Standard' Octavias are fitted with 232X9MM rear discs and the 4X4 239X9MM. However the brake callipers are the same. The RS has 256X22MM ventilated rear discs and different callipers.

Just bringing out the differences :)

If anyone is thinking of upgrading from the 232 to 239MM discs, I would guess that the difference between them is more substantial than just the extra 7MM - otherwise it would make sense for Skoda to standardise on the latter.
