I Placed my order for the new Octy 2.0 150BHP fsi Tiptronic.Elegance in Graphite grey. Late last week with my local dealer, when i phoned him today to find out roughly when I could take delivery, he clicked a few buttons on his pc and then said " seems they will be making it in the next couple of weeks."

This really surprised me as it gives me the impression that my car is being made to order!!

when i queried this and wondered if the cars were stockpiled at the factory wherever it is in Europe, he told me NO we they don't stockpile them. I was wondering if this is normal practice or am I being fobbed off? :confused:

Was told it will be here within 3 months so just hope my old Picasso with 137,000 miles on the clock will hold out that long. Cannot complain too much as my company is paying for the car ,but as I was adamant that I wanted an octavia don't want the boss to get too ****y with me for not having a "Reps Car" but when it arrives will get the rest of our sales team to test it and go for one ,just to prove the point.

There may be one already in the UK, it depends on the options you order. If not then it will be built. Your 5h1troen would have probably been stockpiled at southampton docks, they have thousands of cars there.

Could always ring another dealer and ask on availability.

2.0 fsi Elegance with a coupleof extra's ordered 1st April tentative delivery date 10th June. However supplying dealer said that as there is a shortage of pd engines ,there's a good chance that petrols get bounced up the list.Hopefully this is true as my 02 Company Zafira 103k let me down once more on the weekend!!!!

Far more efficient to build cars to order. It's only the budget end that stockpile stuff.

Dealer checked and there is nothing in this country. There are a few extras added but it is a petrol that's on order so you never know!!

SWMBO NOW has Ford Bus so no need for mpv.Suggested road angel as a justified business expense...... no chance pencil pushers at H.O declined......showed lasts week route .... Meeting finished Glasgow 12:;45 start at Newcastle 15:30 a bit tight but made it... only done though with workmates Cupra fitted with said device and open mobile........

I was talking to a couple of dealers about waiting time for a 1.9 Elegance estate, I originally wanted Black but they reckoned 2 to 3 months wait! If I wanted silver they reckoned on under a month from now.

One of them said there was a shortage of turbos for the 1.9 diesel and the other reckoned VW were hogging all the engines to go into the Passat. Judging by the last couple of weeks you can't really trust any of 'em!
