Hi, I have a major leak in my car and the carpet is soaked. i am having trouble finding the source and need to lift the carpet up. To do this i need to remove the front passenger seat. I have a 06 fabia vrs. there is also a disk changer under the seat.

Many thanks

Hi and welcome aboard.

Have you checked the door seals

Described well in the Haynes manual (how to get seats out) .( Manual available in good book shops & on line .e.g e bay,for a few quid). I seem to remember a post on someone changing all the seats. I put up the front seat removal ( as per haynes for them -Perhaps a SEARCH).

At same time ,a search for DOOR CARD SEALING, will possibly reveal the source & cure for the leak .

Hello there

I once wasted time and effort taking the seats out of a car when trying to find a water leak so, as has been said first check out door seals, door card and also ensure that any drain holes (scuttle panle and bottom of the doors) aren't blocked up.

Can i suggest that unless you have been wading or driving lots of wet roads,

look at the Windscreen as being a possible culprit.

Dodgy replacement window in the past, or corrosion behind the sealer on the pillar.

Obviously also the door seals etc, and i take it your coolant is OK and there is no heater matrix leak.

Next one is that somebody did not have a bottle of water under the seat and it leaked,

that was the last serious water ingress that i found after having spent days drying someones car and checking and drying out.

Next time in to go through it all over again because the car was steaming up, i found a un-burst bootle under the drivers seat,

and it dawned on him there was an empty bottle in the back after the winter..

Never discount anything, even a mate that is a bed wetter.

ok everyone thanks for the advice. I checked the door card sealing, this was completley drenched and falling to bits. I removed the rubber sealing and used a strong silicon all the way around sealing. I did the same on the other door aswell because it was also rubbish. I have used a hosepipe and checked and so far so good. will keep you posted tho and once again thank you for all the advice. yeah it must be a problem with fabias even tho it is only 6 years old.

yea mike, mines the same, a mystery leak, the car keeps steaming up etc and now its starting to smell too :( i need to get it up on a ramp to have a look at chasis i think.. mines in the back passenger footwell! so frustrating isnt it!

Same mate, windows steaming up, puddle in the rear footwell and smells like egg haha.

check door seals first mate, youtube "skoda fabia rear door seals fix". or instead of getting it on a ramp just spray undercarriage with a hose pipe.

seriously? just spray it underneath see where it comes up like? hmm i might have to give that a go!
