I managed to get my DMF replaced with a SMF under warranty, car was a 60 plate with 59k. Replaced under warrantee absolutely no bother what so ever. If its faulty they will replace.

Only thing I had to pay for was a clutch, no labour

yeh dont bother arguing with skoda have already been through that they aint interested as usual customer service is awful.

I'm looking at this clutch as my DMF is on its way out too.

We have been running one of theirs for a few months now, and touch wood everything is OK. I am wondering if this DMF problem is unique to VAG or it happens to other manufacturers as well?

So much for so called "progress". :wonder:

Not unique to VAG, happens on other makes as well. I know through a work colleague that Ford Mondeo TDCi's suffer from failing DMF's as well.

Before spending too much try changing the brake fluid and then bleeding the clutch. It can work wonders.
