Radio Bolero on YETI SE

Featured Replies

According to the Standard equipment listed for the Yeti SE is something called "Radio Bolero 2 DIN with integrated CD changer (6 CD).

Where is the integrated CD changer? I know sometimes they are in the boot - taking up space. or do you feed them all in to the radio unit on the dashboard?

I hardly ever play CDs (prefer to use my mp3 playing thru the AUX input) and would never want to load 6 CDs - so to me it would be totally useless.

Yep - the 6 CD's all go through the front of the Bolero, but as you said, you prefer to use the AUX so no major drawback. Plus side is the SD card reader as well.

Thing is, I recently bought a little gizmo for my car called CD Slot mount for my TomTom.

It works fantasically well with my SEAT. But on the instructions it says "This is not compatible with multi-disc autochanger CD players" so I am wondering if it will work with the Bolero?

Its basically very simple just a small 2cm 'lip' that goes into the CD slot, and then holds the 'shelf' that the TomTom is attached to.

means you dont have to stick the suction pad onto the window. I will include a pic.

Never witnessed one of those 'in the flesh' so can't really comment.

Can't see how it would affect the Bolero - but you don't want to be breaking your new toy.

Fingers crossed TP or one of the more knowledgable folk will be along shortly to clear it up.

Like you, I cant see why it would affect the cd player if its not being used (which it wouldnt be). you just insert the lip maybe 1 cm or so into the slot.

It won't work because with the Bolero you can't put a CD into the "mouth" unless you "order" it to on the touch screen. Pushing something in without this command will not work AND will break the unit.

You need to do a rethink.

And don't rubbish CD's; some of us don't have things like eyeplayers so can't/don't use the "Aux" facility.

super bit of kit but not for multichangers http://slotmount.com/

Oh well . . . I will probably get good use out of it while I wait for the Yeti to materialise.

If you are only concerned about having to stick the mount to the windscreen you could consider this;

http://www.amazon.co...42005437&sr=8-6

I've been using one for years and in 2 different cars. No installation problems, stays in place even did in an emergency stop!), instantly removable and no telltale ring left on windscreen.

Fred

Thanks for that. Looks like a solution. As for the gizmo I bought . . . maybe I can get a fiver for it on ebay?

I have one on the driver's 'A' pillar for my Garmin.

I have a Bracketron nav-mat II on the top box for when I need to put the phone on the dash. Uses something like industrial post-it style gum - very strongly held but comes away clean. Wouldn't need it if the suction pad could grip on the top box direct, but it gives up after a few minutes. The weight stops the lid popping open automatically, but it does stay up when opened. Haven't tried it elsewhere on the dash, but it wouldn't stay put on the Octy. That's down to the sloping dash and the mat trying to straighten out - it would lift at the back and the phone+bracket weight would peel it off! No such issue on the Yeti top box.

Last DIY gadget for my Yeti:

Dashboard friendly phone holder. Made last week from a semitransparent sheet of plastic, after measuring the place and drawn with CAD software. Comercial universal holder fitted to plastic sheet with 2 of same plastic 5 mm strips trough back standart mounting slots. Strips held in place with double sided stiky film. At the end there is a black foam sheet pad, stiked in order not to scratch the trim. Transparency helps seeing airbag warning without the need of additional holes. It hangs securely from the top box release button, also freely passes through the gap between the lid and box border (bent "z" like to accomodate border / lid shape).

I'll be glad to mail upon request - a CAD (aec or dwg) or a PDF (1:1 scale) file - for those who are interested.
