Central locking fault

Featured Replies

Hi,

my father in law has just purchased a 51 plate fabia 1.9 comfort 5 door. He loves the car, but when I opened the car yesterday, I noticed the remote key only opens the o/s/f door. Using the key in the lock gets the same result, but if you sit in the car and use the o/s/f door inner switch, all doors lock and unlock.

I had a fault on my o/s/r door of my octy vrs when I bought it that turned out to be a sticky lock. Do the fabias have the same control unit arrangement built onto the winder motor like the octys, or is this a different fault.

I did a brief search today, but could not get this sort of fault to come back in the search, most just mentioned rear doors and water ingress.

I have not told my father in law about this yet as he was so pleased to buy the car checking it out himself - he is 80 - so if this is a simple job I will just do it and not tell him.

Many thanks in advance for any help

Phil.

think you have to press unlock button twice to unlock all the doors the first press unlocks only drivers door well on mine any how but it is a 56 plate vrs

Thanks for that, if anybody else could confirm that I would be most grateful as the car is 25 miles away to try it.

Would be really great if that is so, once again agent47, thankyou

Phil

Mine is the same. Double press to unlock everything.

Thank you all so much, will try this at the weekend. Think I hit the panic button as this can be a right pain on an Octy at this age.

Yep as said, as standard, one click on the remote only opens the drivers door, another opens all of them.

This can be recoded with VCDS quite easily to change it so that they all unlock on one click.

too late for the party but yes, one click for the drivers door, two clicks for all doors. And as Softscoop says, VCDS to recode. Hopefully getting mine recoded by Jonny5 next week

This seems like a useful feature to me. Better to press a button twice every time you open your car and have passengers, than to get uninvited guests/car jackers.

That's why I'm leaving mine a it is especially having a vrs and living not too far from tottenham.
