Interest in another wingmirrorwoman projector group buy

Featured Replies

As the title really, is there anyone else interested in another group buy for the depo projectors?

I've been looking at the MOT rules, and it states if HIDs are equipped, self levellers and headlight washers must work IF fitted.

I have already emailed her regarding the group buy, so let me know if you are interested.

I don't mind setting up / seeing through the buy. Sorry if in wrong section or if I need to be a freedom member.

Cheers, Mike

any pics and specs of the lights? Sorry, i'm new here and didn't see the previous group buy.

I could be interested if they look right and work with HIDs

Basically there replicas of the OEM projector units, but have a black surround. Dipped beams are D2S bulbs, which are HID bulbs, main beams are H7 bulbs, which are the halogen headlight dipped beams, and come with 1yr guarantee.

OEM projector headlights are roughly £300 a side, but these being replicas are much cheaper.

If I'm right the last group buy was for the pair at £185 delivered. Where she sells them normally at £210 a pair.

if i could see a pic of them on someone's car and knew what HIDs would work then i'd be 99% certain on being in.

do these come with HIDs for the dipped beam and normal H7 bulbs for the full beam? or would i need to buy a set of HIDs for dipped (and just leave the full beams as they are)?

sorry to be a pain!

They don't come with any bulbs.

You can swap your sidelights, indicators and H7 over from your existing lights. You'll also need to swap over your adjustment motors.

Only other thing you need to buy is D2S bulbs and suitable ballast pack.

What they look like.

they look good, i really like them. I'm 99.99% certain i'm in, will have a hunt for decent HID kits

If this is going to go ahead, we could try and arange a group buy of HID kits too?

**EDIT**

My last HID kit I used for my H3 high beams, was from HIDs Direct. £50 for H3 4300k kit all in. Only problem was that it took like 10 secs to warm up fully. But being dipped beams, this shouldnt be a problem.

i know of a decent supplier for high quaility HID kits, i got them as part of a group buy about 4 years ago now and they're still working away on my Punto. As far as i know the group discount code still works as it is - they're not quite as cheap as £50 though!

I've e-mailed them already to see if they can supply a suitable kit, will update as soon as i know more

If this is going to go ahead, we will need to make this "legit" with briskoda etc and move this into the group buys and promotions section. But as I have said before, I dont mind organising this all, and what needs to be done with it.

Hopefully someone can provide help with this, maybe an administrator?

Cheers

Im in :)

Dont you need washers as well to make it 100% legal?

In a word. Nope. If theyre already fitted, they need to work though

Hope fully this will work, if not I will include the link to the regulations.

But in section 1.7, it states that if vehicles are fitted with a HID kit, they may be fitted with headlight washers, and either suspension leveling, or a self headlight leveling.

It also says where such systems are fitted, they must work. Well if we retro fit the xenon lights, there not fitted, so can't be an MOT failure.

And no where does it say about projectors needing to be used, but then if you use a HID kit in a reflector headlamp ... your a plonka Rodney! :pSorry about my crappy paint skills :/Here is the link - http://mottesters.co.uk/files/special%20notices/MOT%20Inspection%20Manual.pdf - Section 1.7, page 28

Right the picture didn't work. So ignore "sorry about my crappy paint skills"

And neither does the link. I'm having so much trouble with my laptop tonight, it doesn't do anything when I press the "post" button!

Second try: http://www.mottester...tion Manual.pdf

If this still doesn't work, go to google and type in "MOT regulations 2012" and look for the website mottesters.co.uk

Thanks,

Refer you to OP...

I've been looking at the MOT rules, and it states if HIDs are equipped, self levellers and headlight washers must work IF fitted.

Whether an MOT tester applies the manual to the letter, or has different ideas, is another matter though.

Still waiting for a reply from wing-mirror-woman. Going to be busy at work today, so replies will be slower, maybe none until this evening.

Cheers, Mike

Have had a reply from her just now.

The price she will do is £204.99 for a pair.

The standard price is £219.98, so a saving of £15 doesn't seem worth the hassle IMO

agree'd! doesn't seem worth it for me, i'm stretched just now as it is (new job, flat & car) so i might just wait until I can actually afford to splash out and pay the £15 extra

Does seem strange. I mean 10 sets (if that was the least we got together) would be £2049.90 so not like they wouldn't benefit from it.

Well that sucks. Obv knows theyre in demand from last time
