Chunky Fab !

Thanks George, had read both those and many other posts prior to posting this up.

The Eibach's seemingly had an issue relating to the inner spigot being too small to receive the hub and poorly done welds, I will only consider using the H&R's which are widely thought to be of much better build quality anyway. I also noted that most people were very surprised to see this and most suggested that spacers tend to be run without issues. And yes I saw the comment on Eibach and FK, again I intend to go H&R.

You will also see I posted on 32k's thread as he is running coilovers and I am concerned by his arch rubbing, although he seems happy to live with it, so was asking about his ride height. I also see that he encountered an issue fitting FK.

My research will be as thorough as possible but as yet I am undeterred :)

What mm drop H&R springs are/were on it?

The H&R springs give a 40mm drop, so in lowering terms my car should be the same as Jonny's

32k's car in the link is on coilovers and I don't know how low.

For me having found this old thread Jonny's car looks excellent.

It does and the wheels fill the arch just right imo, just what I'm looking for, dont really want to go down the coily route if I can help it, been there and done it, and with my job they dont seem to last very long.

Is anyone in touch with Jonny Boy?

Cant PM him his inbox must be full

he lives round here, I bump into him occasionally! lol... saw his car last week, all looks good :)

Still riding wide?

yup, as far as I know, the only thing he has "removed" is the remap due to misfires....

The H&R springs give a 40mm drop.

Will the H&R springs be a straight fit on a monte carlo or ideally will I need to replace the dampers aswell, cheers

No.

I removed the spacers after having issues with slight rubbing at the front. Only going over those square speed humps, but nonetheless, pretty annoying after a bit.

10mm spacers would have been perfect, but I couldn't be bothered changing them. I've got 215/40/17 tyres fitted now.

Straight fit, just need the right ones.

These are on a group buy at the minute with AKS Tuning if you fancy them. Have a look in the group buy section for details, should have ended last day of Sept but I fancy if you ask Alex nicely you'll still get the price which iirc is 25% cheaper than norm. I have these on my car and they work a treat.

Thanks for that Jonny, you've probably saved me some hassle there. Came very close to trying to copy you.

Cheers Sparkly, just been to the AKS site and dropped him a message, hopefully I can jump on the back of the group buy with any luck

I fancy you'll be ok. Give Alex chance to come back to you I think he's away this week.

The springs really change the car handling for the better you won't be disappointed.

Best of luck.

And some RARB goodness also Mr Zouche??? :)

Yeah, I was all set to place an order with Alex for some Bilstein B8's, H&R Spacers and some other goodies last week but held off as I didn't get the price until Friday and new nothing would be dispatched this week. Bare with and I'm sure he will get back ASAP, the guy seems hella busy, was wrestling with a diff whilst on the phone to me last week. Get the impression he deserves some time off.

Problem is my mind is going around in circles, think spacers are off the cards for now and I have a friend heading to Awesome GTI on Sat, a little voice on my shoulder is saying remap, remap.....REMAP, lol.

I wouldn't touch this engine with a remap.

I had the REVO map for a while, had all the misfire woes, REVO blaming Skoda etc,etc (which is crap IMO) as far as I'm concerned, the issues lie with REVO offering a remap on an engine already tuned enough. Without the remap, my engine has never, EVER misfired or coughed & spluttered, something it did regularly remapped.

With REVO map -Misfires & problems

Without REVO map - Perfectly behaved engine

You do the sums
