Just changed the dipped beam bulbs for Osram Nightbreaker +.... what an absolute pain, literally! The nearside was easy enough but to get to the offside I had to remove the filter thingy first. Its a diesel so on petrols might be easier. This filter canister is held on by torx screws too.

Well done Skoda, how on earth are you supposed to change a bulb on the side of the road?

I have the same model, so far I've chickened out where the dip bulbs are concerned. How did you manage the nearside? The battery appears to block access.

I have the older 1.9 Tdi with H7 module lights, not sure if it's the same as the newer ones. But does it have single bulbs or twin for high/low beams? I've only ordered 1 set of bulbs...

The module headlamps have 2 bulbs in each lamp, so 4 in total but Ive only done the dipped beams as I find main beam good.

Battery is held down with 13mm bolt, so you can just undo that bolt and slide it away from dipped beam socket. There is enough access then. The 3 torx screws for fuel filter you need to be careful about, it is easy to damage airco lines unless you use wobble extension.

Otherwise, an easy change, though if you retrofit HIDs prepare for some effort putting bulb springs back on. HID ballasts, even the standard size, fit well in carrier slots just above main beam access holes.

In my opinion, low beam output is only passable with HIDs in (conversion works very well, razor sharp cutoff and good light distribution), and high beam is barely adequate with Philips Xtremes (I'm sure Nightbreakers will be similar as I used them on other cars). But I still am pondering putting high beam auxiliaries in the top grille, mainly for driving across woodland. Anyone knows a cheap source of Hella Micro Xenon Premium edition? :sun:
