New Wishbones or SuperPro?

Featured Replies

Over the course of owning my VRS I have converted any powerflex bushes over to superpro as I rate them much better. I have superpro castor bushes up front and these are superb. I just ordered a new set of superpro FARB bushes for my R32 FARB and will post results when fitted also.

I did a wishbone bush replacement guide somewhere on here.

I think the superpro bushes are better at about the same price, but an example on the Octy II the rear bush kit from powerflex is £250 and the superpro about £350.

Since all of the rear bushes appear to be two part poly over a metal sleeve, you have to ask what that extra £100 gets you.

On the console bushes at the front I can see it, but the extra £100 is a chunk of fitting.

I've got some Octavia wishbones in the For Sale section if anyone wants them?

after fitting new/rebushed lower arms, how do you know how to set the position of the ball joint, as there seems to be adjustment possible with the 3 bolts/nuts (I haven't done this job yet but need to)?

or should I just not worry too much if I'm going to get it 4 wheel aligned after (is this recommended?... & are these 3 nuts part of what they would adjust if required?)

thanks

I would just set them central for now as the 4 wheel laser alignment will be re adjusting the chamber with those 3 nuts anyway as that is exactly what they are there for  .

nice one, thanks for the reply.

I'm tempted to not bother with the 4 wheel alignment as it looks like it could be between £60 to £120, but as I'm about about to put 4 new tyres on very soon I guess I ought to....what do you think?

If you have adjusted the chamber in any way either by replacing wishbone or bushes or both it is a must to get alignment done else you will be wearing out tyres quick, £60 sound quite dear cost me £30.

thanks, I'll get it done then.

I hope it is £30 tbh, the £60 to £120 guestimate is going by what I read on the web....it's the going rate if you want it done by a place with a hunter machine apparently

There's a school of thought that if you get it done cheap it's false econony as it won't get done by a place with a hunter, which is the most accurate...without one the car could end up more misaligned than it was before it went in

If you only got std wishbones mate once they are tightened up you might only get a mm or 2 max. They ere none adj so just tighten them n let alignment sort it all out

thanks, I'll get it done then.

That what the garage used and they were spot on, the garage had my car for nearly a hour mine was set to a 2WD audi TT as that is what my front end is with wishbones, hubs rack etc so had it aligned to a TT which is fantastic as i get no tyre wear and great turn in. The garage then checked on the road after laser alignment to be sure they really were dedicated..

Actually yes it was Pro Tyre in Hilsea buddy. Think Pro Tyre are in more than one place though.
